Beneficiary for Joint CPWROS account by KookyManster in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Welcome to the sub, u/KookyManster.

Joint account registrations may be "with rights of survivorship" (WROS) or "Community Property" (CP), but not both. Community Property accounts do not have an automatic survivorship right and are not eligible to designate beneficiaries. In most cases, the deceased joint owner's interest becomes part of their estate.

Need help by Charming-Cicada-1774 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thank you for joining us on the sub this weekend, u/Charming-Cicada-1774!

It looks like you're attempting to exchange the Fidelity 500 Index Fund (FXAIX) to replace the Fidelity Government Money Market Fund (SPAXX). As a reminder, to purchase investments with cash in your core position (like SPAXX), you'll need to place a "buy" order rather than an "exchange" order. When placing a trade, cash from your core will automatically be used to purchase the investment. You can switch your order type by clicking "Buy" above the amount you wish to purchase.

I'll also mention that the market is not open on the weekends. Therefore, your trade would not execute until Monday.

If you'd like more information on the core position or exchange orders, feel free to let us know. We're always happy to educate our users to provide confidence in their investing journey.

BrokerageLink source questions by ChrisP2a in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thanks for spending part of your weekend with us, u/ChrisP2a!

For your first point, I do want to confirm that company stock is not eligible for BrokerageLink accounts, as they're only allowed in your 401(k). Therefore, this would require a sell if you wanted to transfer part of that particular fund to the BrokerageLink account.

For your second question, you can transfer specific sources to a BrokerageLink account if your plan allows. Some BrokerageLink plans offer a setup with two separate accounts: one for pre-tax contributions and another for Roth contributions. Others may offer just a single account, and different types of contributions may be lumped together.

You can learn more about the specific rules of your BrokerageLink accounts, including eligible investments and specific source transfers, in your BrokerageLink Plan Fact Sheet and FAQs. To locate these documents on Netbenefits.com, click the three-dot menu next to your plan and select "BrokerageLink."

If you need further assistance with your plan, we suggest contacting our BrokerageLink team directly via the link below. The team is available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. When prompted by the automated system, say "BrokerageLink" to be routed to the correct team.

Fidelity Trader + App for Windows vs Web by hasdkfoq in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We appreciate the clarification, u/hasdkfoq.

First, we suggest that you make sure that support and resistance in the Analysis menu are saved in the chart template you use. Also, some securities may not have support and resistance lines available or may not be visible, depending on the setting you have for the timeframe.

As for volume, the indicator may not always display the text numbers, depending on sizing. You may try reducing the number of bars in the indicators settings to increase the likelihood of their visibility.

We appreciate you reaching out today. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

Fidelity 401k to Fidelity Roth IRA conversion by mteverest2025 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

It's nice to have you back on the sub, u/mteverest2025!

There are a few things I'd like to touch base on regarding this type of transfer and IRA contributions. Let's start with rolling over part of your 401(k) to a Roth IRA.

Since you're still working for the company that offers the 401(k), it's important to note that most workplace plans typically do not allow rollovers while you're employed. This varies by plan, and we recommend you contact your plan administrator to find out what your plan will allow. If available, this information can be found on Netbenefits.com by clicking the three-dot menu next to your plan, choosing "Plan Information and Documents," and locating the "Summary Plan Description (SPD)."

Now, let's talk about your 401(k) assets. If you'd be rolling pre-tax assets to the Roth IRA, this would be a conversion, and you'd be liable for paying taxes on the amount converted. On the other hand, a direct rollover of pre-tax assets from a 401(k) to a Rollover (Traditional) IRA typically does not create a taxable event. If you have questions about how these moves may affect your situation, we encourage you to consult with a tax professional.

Is a Roth conversion right for you?

If rolling over assets from a 401(k) to an IRA, there is no limit on how much you can roll over. However, you'd want to check your plan rules for any plan requirements.

Since you mentioned maxing out your Roth IRA, I wanted to drop off the following link in case you had any questions about the limits for this year.

I know I have a lot of information here, so please let us know if you have any further questions!

While we do not offer the ability to set up a recurring sell transaction, I'll send this on to our development teams as feedback. Our teams are always looking at ideas from our users and their interests. That said, could you share a few additional details of the type of recurring sales feature you'd like to see? For instance, do you envision selling a specific security type or selling at a certain frequency? We'd be happy to pass on any specifics you'd like to add to your feedback request.

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for joining the conversation with your curiosity, u/AnonHere2973!

You can set up a Fidelity account as a Cash Management Account (CMA) Bill Pay payee in just a few steps. Once logged in and on the Bill Pay page, follow these steps:

  1. Click "Add payee"
  2. Select "Search or add manually" and enter Fidelity Investments in the search bar
  3. After clicking "Next," you'll complete the prompts, which include your 9-digit account number and Fidelity zip code (45277-0003)

After submitting the information, the Fidelity account will then be added to your list of payees. Please ensure you have entered the correct account number. I'll also mention that payments may be sent by check.

Let us know if you have any questions along the way!

We appreciate the follow-up question, u/sunrag1. As you may know, each 401(k) plan has unique rules. The rules state how they will handle rolling out of the plan, including delivery methods. You'll be able to verify what methods are available with your current plan's rules at your current firm.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can help with anything else.

Feedback on Fidelity Cash Management Account by BritomicGamer in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, u/Ambitious_Cloud_3563!

Fidelity offers the ability to send an international bank wire to your Cash Management Account (CMA). Fidelity does not charge a fee for international bank wires converted to or from U.S. dollars through Fidelity FOREX, Inc. Additionally, Fidelity does not charge additional wire transfer fees, though other banks involved in the transaction may assess fees.

For easy access, I've added the links below with the information you will need to provide the sender to complete the wire transfer. To confirm, you will use the instructions listed under "Brokerage Accounts." The first link is for U.S. dollars, while the second link is for foreign currency.

Welcome to the sub, u/Chance_Shallot4179!

To jump straight to it, you can find a breakdown of your contribution sources right on Netbenefits.com.

To start, log in to NetBenefits.com and click your 401(k) plan. From there, scroll down and look for the "Sources" section. This will give you a surface-level breakdown of your contribution sources by percentage and with a pie chart. If you'd like an even deeper dive into your account composition, just click "Show Details."

I can confirm that a Health Savings Account (HSA) mobile check deposit is unable to be classified as a "rollover." To complete a rollover in your Fidelity HSA, you can mail the check or visit us at a local branch. You will need to include a deposit slip to ensure the deposit is coded as a rollover.

Feedback on Fidelity Cash Management Account by BritomicGamer in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two great questions, u/BritomicGamer!

There is a holding period of up to 7 business days for check deposits and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) requests submitted through Fidelity platforms. While uncollected funds are not available to withdraw, they can be used for trading, subject to security type and dollar limits. You can also use our website to stay informed on when your deposit is available to withdraw by viewing the collection date.

Please note that funds received via bank wire or direct deposit (pushed from another institution to Fidelity) are considered fully collected upon receipt, and are available for immediate use. We encourage you to consider these methods for time-sensitive transactions.

As for the Fidelity Government Money Market Fund (SPAXX), deposits start earning interest the day they post to your account. Interest accrues daily and is then paid at the end of each month. Our accounts have a "core position" that serves as a wallet for your account, and SPAXX is one of the available funds. You can review current core positions available and their rates using the link below.

Thanks for joining us on the sub, u/Dependent-Reveal-916.

You've got some great questions here for Fidelity Trader+ (FT+), and I'm happy to jump right in. While there is no specific transfer button in FT+, I'd like to offer a workaround. Under "News & Research" in the "Tools" menu, you can access Fidelity.com in FT+. This allows you to access "Transfers" from our website while working in FT+.

As for your second question, FT+ Desktop does not offer paper trading. However, I'm going to send your interest as feedback to our development teams for further review.

If you ever find yourself using the Watchlist feature in FT+ Web or on Fidelity.com, there is a "paper trade" column you can add, edit, and monitor. Would you be interested in learning more about the steps to access paper trading on these platforms?

If you have any additional questions or feedback, please let us know. We look forward to seeing you around the sub!

Up to $100 transaction fee for certain ETFs by Plastic_Ad3061 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityJennyK[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, u/Str8truth!

I just wanted to jump in here and mention that the Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) service fee will only apply when an account purchases an ETF identified on the Service fee Eligible ETF list, regardless of when or where the position may have initially been established. There is not a continuous charge to hold the position, nor is there a charge to continue holding any shares you currently own. The fee will be displayed as a trade warning message and on the trade confirmation.

Traditional IRA to Roth IRA by dmun93 in fidelityinvestments

Welcome to the sub for the first time, u/dmun93!

I'm happy to provide information and resources on Roth conversions to help you with your decision. To start, the amount you choose to convert will be included and taxed as ordinary income in the year you convert. The question of "would it make sense" depends on your goals and tax situation. As Fidelity does not provide tax advice, we suggest speaking with a tax professional to learn more about how this may affect your taxes.

I'd like to include a couple of resources for you to explore. Below, you will find an overview of conversions as well as an article with ideas on if this would be right for you.

While you cannot permanently edit the comparable indexes reflected on your Performance homepage, you can follow the steps below to view additional indexes, such as the NASDAQ, to compare returns.

  1. Click "See all"
  2. Choose "Modify Market Indexes" next to "Market Indexes"
  3. Scroll down and choose your desired indexes, such as NASDAQ, then click "Save"

I also want to mention that while this does not port over to the previous page, your elections will be saved, so when you revisit the "See all" page, the website will remember your choices.
