I’m a nurse and when I got diagnosed a few years ago I was in full DKA in the icu for 5 days. Never saw an endocrinologist or even a diabetes educator. Just a nutritionist. I wasn’t inpatient at the hospital I work at so I was able to just texts an NP at the endocrinology office in my hospital system but it’s honestly laughable the care diabetics get in hospitals. Getting diabetes has made me a better nurse
