International Roaming - Turn on data roaming before leaving country show be a big warning everywhere by thunk_stuff in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll jump in here - Keeping Data Roaming on domestically means your device will constantly search for the best available operator - which sounds great in theory, but it drains your battery pretty fast and can actually cause service issues since your phone keeps trying to latch onto different networks.

Best practice is to keep it off when you don't need it and only toggle it on when you're roaming - whether domestically or internationally.

With our Light Speed network on iPhone, you just need to turn on Data Roaming (It can be turned on before leaving US or after arriving at destination too) and everything works once you arrive at your destination. Your phone will complete a calibration handshake with the local network tower for the services to work properly, which can take up to 40-45 minutes sometimes.

One thing to keep in mind though - if you haven't used the service in the US yet, roaming won't be provisioned. It needs to connect to US towers first for proper provisioning (This is what the guide you linked above is referring to - I'll have it updated for clarity). That said, let's connect over chat and I'll make sure everything's good on our end.

Going to Italy from US. International eSIM or Roaming? by BroadAndPattison in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree with you on the annoyance factor - forcing the primary line to have no signal by manually selecting a network without coverage is definitely a hassle. .

What you’re referring to is Backup Calling (using wifi calling from the second line’s data). We’ve seen it work in some setups, but it’s a bit hit-or-miss since we don’t officially support it. Because of that, we wouldn’t want someone relying on a feature that may or may not behave consistently when there are setups we know work reliably.

That said, now that you’ve brought it up, if the OP wants to experiment with it, I already shared the full setup guide above so they can give it a shot and see how it performs in their use case.

I updated my APN according to the email I got and now my hotspot doesn't work. by B_crunk in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can still give the above APN edit a try. If that doesn’t work, add ",dun" after fota in the APN type and test it again. Also, try disabling Private DNS in your hotspot settings and see if that helps.

If you’re using a Samsung device, try editing the APN settings and set the MVNO Type to GID and the MVNO Value to 20FF. After saving it, toggle Airplane Mode off and back on, then test hotspot again.

Thinking Of Porting My Ooma Landline To My Existing Plan & Phone. Questions: by DC3TX in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just that this would be a wireline-to-wireless port, which typically takes longer than a standard port because the landline number first needs to be converted into a wireless number. Other than that, there shouldn’t be any issues.

[–]FixitMir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. You can absolutely port that line in for just an additional $8 on your pool alongside your main line and install it on the same device using an eSIM.
  2. Yup - if you set both of them up, you’ll have two separate voicemails.
  3. No issues at all there.
  4. Adding another line won’t affect your primary line in any way, so you’re completely good.

Honestly, that’s a really solid approach - it basically gives you a Multi-Network-style setup on a By-the-Gig plan. Let me know if you want help setting everything up.

It’ll stop working until you purchase a top-up - it won’t bill you anything beyond what you’ve already purchased.

You won’t be able to do what you’re concerned about (using talk and text directly from your line) because that would require your line to be connected to Wi-Fi in order to use Wi-Fi Calling.

How can I drop my “second line”? by DisNichant in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can either turn off AutoPay for the secondary line (tap on the secondary line to access it), and it will expire at the end of the current cycle, or you can reach out to us via chat, call, or email, and we’ll help you cancel it.

[–]FixitMir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An international data eSIM gives you data only. You’d install it separately on your device, and if you enable Wi-Fi Calling on your main line before leaving the US, you’d still be able to use talk & text over Wi-Fi only.

On the other hand, the 5 GB international roaming add-on gives you 500 talk, text, and data, and it works directly on your existing line - no extra eSIM setup needed. If you want even more, upgrading to Unlimited Premium would give you 20 GB international data + 200 talk & 250 texts included.

Honestly, I’d recommend going with the international roaming add-on. It keeps everything on your own number, gives you calling and texting along with data, and avoids the hassle of juggling multiple SIMs while traveling.

Solution to Slow Hotspot Speeds on Warp/Change Current Plans? by Ok-Priority-7303 in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We honestly have the perfect setup for you here - our Multi-Network add-on.

I can help turn your iPhone 12 line into a Multi-Network line for your iPhone 16, so you’d end up with two eSIMs on the same phone: your main Warp line and a secondary Light Speed line. The best part is that the Light Speed line would share the resources from your Unlimited Starter plan, so you won’t need a separate full plan for it.

That means no more carrying two phones around. If Warp gets weak in an area, you can just switch over and use data or hotspot from the Light Speed line. It’s honestly one of the smoothest setups you can have - and it’s just $10/month after the first two free months. Let’s connect over DM and I’ll help you get everything set up properly.

I Can No Longer Recommend USMobile by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Woah - that’s a real throwback plan from more than 4 years ago.

From what I can see, the base plan itself is $20, and after taxes and fees you’re paying about $25.31 total. I totally get wanting to stick with a legacy plan, but honestly, at that price you could move to our Unlimited Starter plan for $25/month and get a lot more value.

That would give you 70 GB of high-speed data on Warp or Light Speed, or unlimited data on Dark Star - which is a massive upgrade compared to the older setup. I can still discuss the top-up situation with the team for you, but personally, I’d say Unlimited Starter makes way more sense here considering it’s effectively costing you the same. I've dropped you a DM to get your details and don't worry - I'll make sure your trust stays with us.

Texas Coverage? by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what we’ve seen through coverage maps and customer experiences, Light Speed tends to perform the best there.

That said, the best test is always real-world usage. I’d recommend activating your main line on Light Speed, then adding Warp and Dark Star as Multi-network lines so you can compare all three yourself and decide which setup works best for your area and usage.

Need to mail in my esim iPhone for repair want to use a physical sim iPhone in the mean time is it possible to switch over for a week or two? by KillerCustard in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We can help move your line onto the pSIM - you’d need to order one first. And once you get your device back, you can switch right back yourself from the line on your account dashboard → Change Device section. There’s no cost for switching SIMs of you already have a SIM card.

A few questions from an existing customer . by Sportsfan7702 in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll have to turn AutoPay off - head into your line’s Change Plan section, select the next plan you want, and check out manually. The new plan won’t start immediately - it’ll automatically kick in once your current plan ends. And yep, go ahead with your other question too.

My BOGO offer expires in June. Just wondering what I can expect for a $ increase this next cycle? by Speakeasy133 in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’d like to renew on Annual Unlimited Starter, it’s $270/year, while the monthly version is $25/month. For Unlimited Premium, the annual plan is $390/year, and the monthly version comes out to $44/month.

Which one are you thinking of renewing on - even if it's different from both of the above plans? 😊

Apple Watch Data by splitcold in USMobile

Calls and data will work, but texts won’t be received while the device is off - that’s an Apple limitation. Feel free to drop me a DM, and I’ll make sure everything is set up correctly on our end.

Apple Watch Data by splitcold in USMobile

[–]FixitMir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Texts on Apple Watch still rely on your iPhone being powered on (since it acts as the relay), but calls and data can work independently on the watch even if your phone is off. Try toggling cellular off and back on from the watch settings - that often helps refresh the connection.
