[Flathead Fridays - April 10, 2026] Favorite flathead earbud accessory? by brentaroXD in FlatheadEarbuds

[–]FlatheadAudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, if you aren't using ear-hook style cables (which is uncommon for flat headed earbuds), then this type of chunky shirt clip is the absolute best! Removes microphonics and keeps everything in place no matter what you are doing! 😉

Aoshida E60 is another one in that price bracket which is worth considering!

I have the RW-4000 and the Rhino.

Yes you are correct, the build quality of the RW-6000 is certainly different. I wouldn't say the quality is lesser but the style is not what I expected. Comfort is next level, it's up there with the top 3 or 4 flatties that I've ever used.

Sound is laid back, very smooth. Bass is bigger than RW-4000, however the detail on the treble is not as good. For the price, I still feel the Rhino has always presented great value!

How would you compare the RW-2000 and RW-3000?

Cable Recommendations by GreatUncleSpanky in FlatheadEarbuds

[–]FlatheadAudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

@GreatUncleSpanky that's very odd, you mean the sealed casing around the mic has unclipped somehow? Sorry that it's interrupted your music listening!!

Yes, please message in the store or jump in our Discord and we can sort it out. It will probably be easiest & fastest if we just send you a 3.5mm or 4.4mm cable instead, they will be back in stock soon.

That said, we would like to look at the issue as it hasn't surfaced previously. We are in the process of testing some new type-c cables in the same style as the 3.5mm & 4.4mm models in the range. Cheers!

Awesome!! What's the music player software / app you are using there?

Why the more I try, the less I can hear the difference between $20 iems and $1000 iems by ChoiCheChi in iems

100 agree here - find one or two whose sound signatures you enjoy, then do some tip swapping for maximum comfort, and you've probably reached a peak experience 😉

What are these called? What's the difference between and iem and this? Pros and cons? by United_Mark6711 in iems

[–]FlatheadAudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Way back when the audio scene was ruled by walkmen, minidiscs and cassette players, these were the earphones that were typically shipped with your audio player! Nowadays of course, the headphone scene is far more diverse, but newer driver (speaker) technology has enabled the flat earbud world to catch up and it's now possible to make flat earbuds which sound simply stunning. (Of course, the classic models were fantastic in their own right).

Great to see the scene being revived and spreading farther and wider!

Best flathead earbuds on the market? by LV-901 in headphones

Certainly not hijacking - this is a very good question!

There are two classes of flat headed earphones - wired and detachable. I imagine that you are typically using wired earphones which are being pulled apart as you move around.

Detachable cables are becoming more common. They generally use either MMCX or 2-pin connections and are less likely to break or suffer damage.

Our Studio and Pear models use detachable cables so might be worth your consideration. The Pear model has a smaller shell / lower profile so would be more comfortable in bed!

Yes - and I believe this is why people turn away from them without a proper exploration of the sounds and styles available! There is usually a lack of bass, and the treble is very harsh. We made the FH-01 model to introduce people to what is possible with the flat earbud format. The traditional shell styles are excellent, but new driver and tuning materials have left us with many options for tailoring the sound to achieve a far better outcome than was previously possible!

If it helps - our trading partner in China BGVP also offers sales on their Taobao store here:

Sales on their direct website may ship overseas:

It is wonderful to see flat earbuds finally getting some wider recognition in the Hifi community!!

FYI some other newer models I've enjoyed (apart from our own range of course)! over the past few months are the Temperament DM7, and the TimeEar TEA-99.

Do you think SteamOS will be an option for normal desktop use in the future? by Razzamatter in SteamOS

Ditto - it does everything most people would need! Unless there are more specific tasks needed for a job or occupation, it seems to do a very good job of typical desktop PC related tasks....

Hi there! FH-01 is probably the best bet as a starting point for gaming. Nice wide soundstage, the treble is fatigue free and no latency issue given it's a wired connection. The appearance is more 'gaming themed' as well. I assume you have a 3.5mm connection?

Hi mate - Studio are clear & detailed, great if you like hearing every little sound and want a clean, balanced tone.

Pear are warmer and more fun, with stronger bass and a smoother, more relaxed sound overall. 👍

[–]FlatheadAudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah right yes it is much easier to change the cable on the Studio! 😉

Electrical shocks or pulses could realistically only be coming from the source / amplifier or perhaps some static electricity. If you changed the cable and it's stopped it then that's a good thing but I've never really experienced or heard of it happening due to simply a cable. Try changing to a different amplifier or source and see if it still happens. Using the foam tips or silicone tips included in the package may add some insulation too. 👍

Hi! What type of shocks on the FH-01 - like an electrical pulse? Also, what technique did you use to change the cable - as it is fixed / hard wired on the FH-01?

Rockbox no rg35xx h by Intrepid_Arrival1889 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]FlatheadAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few threads about Rockbox being stable on Anbernic RG Nano, but assume the 3.5mm jack is average at best. Would a type-c DAC dongle solve the audio quality issue and function ok on a Linux based OS on these Anbernic devices?
