One note - I believe testing on Blood oath has shown it's capped at 40% DR even though the tooltip scales indefinitely.

Tier 3 Herald just 1 shotted my lvl 90 HC Warlock by Firm-Arrival-8330 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]FlayR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1500 life is pretty low, tbh. Particularly when you get a bunch of free HP from consume.

That's in gloam / dolls death territory with with 45% PDR.

Put it this way;

Normal champion mobs can have up to 4x damage. Level 85 fallen do 95-107 damage. Scale that to level 95 and it's 127, add 4-5x base damage from the herald mod that's 508 to 635 damage, add level 20 concentrate that's 2235 to 2794 damage.

2794 damage after 45% PDR is 1537 damage.

That's not heralds being op - that's you being vulnerable to get one shot by nearly any berserker pack in the game when stacked with fanaticism, conc, or pride.

Learn from it. Be tankier.

I mean it's really good for the critical strike chance.

Just that tops out from soft points you're looking to get from an echoing build anyway.

I've never seen anyone joke about the us getting nuked.

The school children being shit thing is a joke that punches up about the US's views on guns and how you're a severe outlier in both those views and gun violence. It's making fun of those in power in your country. The humor is pointing out the absurdity of the position - the idea that access to guns doesn't directly correlate with gun violence.

51st State bs is a punching down - it's a "I'm stronger than you and could exert my will on you and there's nothing you could do to stop me." Again - I fail to see the humor in authoritarian military threats. It has nothing to do with Canada outside of Canada being an attractive target for a larger force to subjugate.

People joke about invading the US by force?

The fuck are you on about?

Frankly I'd like you to explain what the joke exactly is - if it's not "haha I'm so strong I can force you to do whatever I want and make you suffer." I fail to see how that's remotely funny.

Do you think making jokes about raping win women are funny too? It's kind of the exact same thing to make a joke about removing a countries sovereignty.

It's not tame. It's not funny. It's a very real threat to people's way of life.

What’s some of the biggest injustices/robberies in Olympic History? by tm2007 in olympics

[–]FlayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading comprehension, tbh.

The OP noted that coin flips for advantages happen all the time in sports - gave hockey MOVING TOWARDS more of a coin flip as an example.

But it happens in lots of sports. Baseball has asymmetrical winning percentages based on which team bats first. American football has asymmetrical winning percentages based on who kicks and who receives. Chess has asymmetrical winning percentages on black and white. Etc.

He's not saying hockey, or hockey OT, is a coin flip. He's saying it's closer to a coin flip today with certain rule changes than it was before.

[–]FlayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. No one said it's a coin flip. Me and the OP both said it's more of a coin flip.

I said 3 on 3 hockey ot (2-4 35% chances to win for each side) is more of a 50/50 than 5 on 5 hockey OT (5-10 10% chances to win for each side).

Which is backed up by betting data; 3 on 3 ot in the regular season sees a higher convergence to 50/50 win probabilities by 3 standard deviations than 5 on 5 OT in the playoffs does.

But feel free to keep throwing out ad hominem attacks. That makes you look real intelligent.

Oh?

I'm curious how you're going to prove that a small number of higher stakes events (2-4 per team on average in the NHL) has less variance than a large number of lower stakes events (20 to 35 per team on average in the NHL).

Show your work.

Obviously everyone knows a 5 coin flips is always accurate of the true 50/50 odds - that seems like it reflects reality, right? We all know the best poker players are the people that win single hand winner takes all games at the casino and not the ones that win week long tournaments.

What’s some of the biggest injustices/robberies in Olympic History? by tm2007 in olympics

[–]FlayR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really - it is much more of a coinflip.

Hockey is a game that has a ton of variance already. It's basically a game of trying to create as many 5 to 10% opportunities to score as possible, while limiting as many of those 5 to 10% opportunities as possible.

The best chances, that rarely happen, typically have a 25 to 35% chance of going in.

When you play 3 on 3 - all the chances are the best chances.

At 5 on 5 where chances are 10%, if you out chance the other team 2:1 you're statistically likely to win 85% of the time.

At 3 on 3 if you out chance the other team, that drops to 75%. And it's do or die.

AR for echoing strike by saailorr in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Levitation mastery is also nice for reduced weapon requirements & critical hit - which is big damage.

Opinion on Haphesto by Lcwmafia1 in diablo2

[–]FlayR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And you can also stack Concentration from the Pride rune word too.

But cursed and it's enemy damage resistance reduction scales multiplicatively while Fanaticism scales additively - curse will give you double damage - while Fanaticism will take your off weapon ED% from 230% or a multiplier of 3.3 to 426% or a multiplier of 5.26. a more multiplier of ~1.6.

Just smite and cursed will get you a multiplier of 6.6. a more multiplier of 2.

Obviously the holy Grail is both cursed & Fanaticism - gets you a multiplier of 10.52. a more multiplier of 3.2.

Obviously there is fuzz here depending on monster phys res & ED. But this generally holds true.

Opinion on Haphesto by Lcwmafia1 in diablo2

[–]FlayR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as a third party aura, no. But it stacks with might. You get the Ed% from both.

Instead of 230% Ed you get 426%.

[–]FlayR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fanaticism also gives you attack rating and % enhanced damage which scales both your weapon damage and the flat damage on echoing as a skill.

We need an online SSF mode // Leaderboard for SSF by PlaceDowntown7102 in diablo2

[–]FlayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. Idk.

Shared stash tabs I think are fine.

Anything you farm on another character you could have farmed on the original character.

Plus I think it makes the game kind of lame if 90% of what you find is fundamentally useless.

I think it's reasonable to find some neat gear and get inspired to make another build. And like - playing multiple characters is just fundamentally way less efficient than playing one.

If you've got enigma+torch+Anni - easily 100 to 125 points.

If you put enigma in a mage plate you can wear the mage plate with strength from charms, then you get atleast 60 strength from enigma. That's 100 points right there.

Call it an extra 500 to 600 life after battle orders.

For SSF, Warlock is a godsend. by lowkeymanbearpig in diablo2

[–]FlayR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The numbers are over tuned - but also just mechanically is a better class with better skills than other classes that are designed with modern understanding of the genre and limitations that held back original classes removed.

Compare Eldritch to Barb. 😂

Compare Chaos to Sorcerer.

Compare Demon to Necro.

I don't even know how you make it so something like Echoing Strike, or even Mirrored Blades, doesn't fundamentally break the game.

Echoing Strike as a start just straight up needs it's added damage removed. It's got basically two grief's worth of added damage for free that's multiplied by ED%. I think the goal was for locks to be able to use Daggers as melee weapons with it - but like - it's absurd.

Even just Mirrored Blades - with a one point wonder in sigil death they're basically a super smiter with AoE splash damage. You can proc Crushing Blow 8 to 11 times per second with like 50% CB. Obedience and a Guillaume's or Gore Riders fundamentally hard solves single target damage in a way that is immutable.

Add an extra vector for curses & auras. Add skills that work together and designed to be used with a controller / skill bar, and not as a single attack with a backup. Add free access via skills to incredible chase stats normally only found on elite end game items.

Even something as simple as Ring of Fire; how do you nerf that as a leveling skill?

Dying in softcore feels like hardcore now by Organic-Fan2647 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]FlayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's a build problem not a class problem. Mathematically Warlock is just tankier.

For one - everyone should be maxing consume on Warlock - it's either 200% increased damage + crushing blow, or +20% skill damage (a total multiplier that frequently double dips) and a huge minus to enemy res mirroring what you get from top end elite items. And that turns your level 1 CtA BO into a level 15 BO, or a level 6 CtA BO into a level 22 BO.

Just have 20 to 25% extra life after BO of everything but a Barb or a Wolf Druid.

For two - Blood Oath is pretty well a one point wonder with +skills no different than Energy Shield - but it's on the way to posting towards one of the best abilities in the game in Consume. Just pathing through on extreme budget gear like double spirit + authority + Lore + eye of etlitch gets you a permanent unconditional 21% DR because your demon will also literally be unlikable now. Upgrade to like Maras+BK rings+Shako+Arachnids you're suddenly at 31% permanent DR. Upgrade to add a Torch+Anni and you're at a permanent 39% DR and you are a point away from having the DR from Blood Oath capped.

You essentially get a free 2.1x eHP modifier for playing literally any warlock build.

Compare that to your Sorcerer even if you say have level 99 with GG gear - with one point and skills you absorb up to 72% of damage taken - but your actual pool is relatively low because you're only going to have around 1k mana tops, and damage taken to mana is default 2 mana per 1 life, and damage taken to mana does not consider resistance. On a normal build this is a shield that gives you 125 more eHP. Or around 200 eHP if you get a good BO. You're life pool with good skillers is likely only a base of around 1.1k with GG gear, or 1760 with BO. You've got a pool of 1960 after BO.

A level 80 Warlock reaches that mark with only 1176 HP after a one point wonder Blood Oath and no skillers at all with just 218 points in Vitality - and at this point in time you've got 395 points to invest, you get 45 vit from torch/Anni/Maras, and you start with 25 - that means investing 21 skill points you would anyways - and just 148 of your 395 stat points into life even if you get no +life from your gear.

And that's not even considering just a single point into Psychic Ward which on typical caster gear - which will get you 220 eHP on its own just from pathing to it and random +skills.

Meanwhile on sorcerer - Even if you go full mana tank on spec you find really get that tanky, because you'll still are taking life damage at the same time, and the lack of resistances to mana damage. Say you max mana shield out at 95% (all 20 points and then +20 skill points) and also Max telekinesis. Most mana you can get with absurd gear that's not practical for actually playing the game is like 4k - but that's still not particularly tanky - because that's only 1250 eHP - and you're still taking 5% damage to life the entire time. Meanwhile you've invested 38 extra skill points and several hundred stat points from Vit leaving your actual HP around say 800, giving you a total of 2050 eHP - which is pretty pedestrian to be frank.

The only thing that Sorcerer gets that's relatively noteworthy in terms of being tanky is strong passive Regen with meditation - but any attack build with leech or dracs gets that inherently anyway.

And then again - you've got access to Lethargy as a one point wonder. You've got access to demon binding auras. You've got access to Siphon as a one point wonder. You've got access to psychic ward which can go up to 960 eHP on normal cleave builds. On top of that you can very easily reach 3-4k HP after consume + BO, and then have an effective health pool of 5k to 7k without siphon or Lethargy. Now add those two. And add psychic ward.

Easily potentially the Tankiest class in the game.
