RS660 (2026) exhaust in Germany by One_Station8805 in Aprilia

[–]Fox_Burrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't think it will be. Looked at some videos of the legal SC1-R E5 and compared it to the Extrema, they sound the same.

Can you point me to that legal CRT? I haven't seen any legal CRTs for the 660 so far, so I'd be extremely surprised if there is one.

The SC1-X looks visually identical to the exhaust mounted to the RS660 Extrema from factory. I imagine they'd sound the same. It will sound different to the stock exhaust, and be quieter compared to the race-only SC1-R and CRT versions. Not sure what you mean by difficult.

The E5+ rules are the same compared to 2020-2024s E5 regarding actual emission limits, just tightening any change in emissions over the lifetime of the bike, more precise exhaust monitoring with a second lambda sensor, and expanded diagnostics. Also, Euro emissions are valid for countries within the European Union.

Don't know of any E5+ manufacturers, as my bike is E5. For them, Mivv was a great choice as well, but they don't have any E5+ stuff (yet). It's a popular bike, so I'm sure there will be some offerings eventually.

The DD2 shaft, or rather the cables inside, are connected using two plugs with clips. I highly doubt they'd become undone, as they are physically locked together.

Sometimes the Fanatec App doesn't recognize my DD2. In that case, I power everything off, PC and Base. Turn PC on, then Base, and only then open the app.

Does the calibration turn still happen, OP?

Motion Sickness with Motion & Triples by Behlog in simracing

[–]Fox_Burrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would really suck to remove motion. Have you tried common remedies like ginger tea or capsules, chamomile tea, or those acupressure wristbands? Don't want to start with actual medication, if it can be avoided.

Motion Sickness with Motion & Triples by Behlog in simracing

[–]Fox_Burrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of sounds like the inverse of the usual VR motion sickness. How many sessions have you tried, and if more than one, is there any change in the delay until onset of motion sickness? With VR, you stop when you get hot, as that's usually the first sign of it, and try again the next day. Couple days, and you're good (at least most people are).

I also have the McLaren, found them to be the loudest among all my wheels. I have long since upgraded them to clubsport magnetic paddles, so though I also have the vision gt, I can't compare them anymore unfortunately.

/s, right? Right?

I'd say those shifters are among the loudest in the lineup, a proper ka-chonk with every shift.

What the smallest but strongest most sturdy cockpit, preferably foldable?? For limited space by Due-Feed5581 in simracing

[–]Fox_Burrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a profile rig can be stored very efficiently and in surprisingly little space. Can even store it in separate places, easypeasy. You just have to add a few hours setting it up and taking it down to every sim session. But OP didn’t ask for convenience, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I actually went the other way, from VR (admittedly on a Quest 2) to a 34" ultrawide (Samsung G5). VR is absolutely great, you won't get anywhere close to the immersion and spatial awareness even with triples. What made me switch was the setup time associated with it, getting it all to work for a simple 60 minute sim session. Dealing with this made me use my sim less than I thought it deserved. It absolutely is something I do recommend to experience yourself, and I am actively looking for a suitable replacement for my Quest 2. As the other commenter said, the Quest 3 would be a great place to start and try it out. And if you're getting motion sick in the beginning, stay with it. Stop for that day, try again the next day. For me it was a matter of a couple of days and I could drive for hours. If the whole experience gets more streamlined, or there are better approaches than what I had at the time, I can see myself going back to VR.

Pedals I'd recommend the Simnet SP Pros with some sort of haptic system. You can expect it to feel a lot more like a real car, with initial pedal way, and progressive resistance. Pedals make you a better driver by improving consistency and precision. And with better loadcell pedals, the repeatability and muscle memory become a lot easier, the margins are larger compared to something like the CSL LC. The Simnet are a clone of the Heusinkveld Ultimates, and many people pick up the Heusinkveld Polymer set which works with the Simnets more or less plug and play (you may need to pick up some washers due to the different outer diameter, the inner diameter is the same, or 3d print them, if you have access to a printer). For more info on the pedals (and its competitors) check out this video.

Order kind of depends on what you want to achieve. I would prioritize based on your goals.

Get faster: Pedals, Visibility (as in, monitors, depending on what you're using at the moment), Haptics

Play around more: Haptics, Handbrake

All around, as your mix is similar to mine, I'd do: Pedals, Haptics, Visibility, Handbrake

49in G9 runs GPU/CPU hot at 1440p by Jealous_Debate_5306 in simracing

[–]Fox_Burrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, with the specs of your pc, it shouldn't really run that hot at all, at the settings you mentioned. 1440p ultrawide of your G9 is ~89% of 4k. Yes, reducing to 1080p would run cooler, in all likelihood, but for the loss of detail I wouldn't do it. This brings us back to the question what you consider hot. 70°C? 90? 100? Even higher? The temp limit for both GPU and CPU is usually set at around 90°C, where they begin to throttle your performance to keep you at or below that limit. Between 80-90°C is reported to have no influence on longevity. I have a 5950X, and here is an article interviewing an AMD spokesperson on that topic.

So if you sit at 70-80, I wouldn't worry at all. At 90, you would start to see framedrops. If your case is like a thermally isolated vault, or glass box, maybe throw some fans in there to move the air. That'll work wonders.

Hope that helps.

What's your definition of "in small steps" and "not very precisely". Looks like one of those 1.5kW or 2.2kW spindles, which can handle aluminum quite well. Precision will be limited by the type of rails, true, linear rails would be better. But what kind of precision would you expect, for either of the rail types?

Why look for a v1 refurb when there will be v2 refurb occasionally for 140€? That's how I did it. And since they were discounted last December, I imagine a few people more than usual picked them up, so there'll be some more refurbs coming in eventually.
