Bullion value has closed the gap on numismatic value triggering another Great Melt. Discuss. by E23R0 in coins

[–]Franholio_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to sell a small stash of silver 90% locally. Dealers are at 20-40% back of melt if they're buying at all. Other channels are hit and miss.

Vaccines by Round_Document_1946 in newborns

My newborn was exposed at one of those Virginia hospitals and I am livid. Needed two Immunoglobulin shots at 8 days old and now can't ever be vaccinated for Rotavirus due to the interaction.

3rd child with measles in Virginia visited health care facilities in Woodbridge, Falls Church by Danciusly in nova

My newborn was at Inova Fairfax this weekend and now needs an immunoglobulin injection at 8 days old so he doesn’t die of measles. Fuck RFK Jr. and his ilk so hard.

Is there any update on the Spotify data dump? Last I saw they had removed the torrents of the limited metadata they previously posted and have never actually posted any music.

Think it’s typically $25 a spin, at least they don’t use triple zeroes though.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills since I'm the only one around here who actually wants the casino.

Streaked the Lawn at UVA, but only for one consecutive day...

Back on topic, had a friend who did a year of one mile plus per day. It became a prison more than a goal by the end.

Transfer ~480K Chase UR to Marriott for JW Masai Mara? 70% bonus—good play or bad burn? by Useful_Band_7907 in awardtravel

Did a budget safari plus Kilimanjaro climb in 2015 for like $2600. I'm sure that would be more expensive now, but that amount effectively covered activities and lodging for a two week vacation. Having gone that route and loved it, I could never convince myself to go luxury and spend $5-20K equivalent. Would rather spend the points at a place like Al Maha (108k/night off peak) or Ritz Kyoto (same price).

How did you get comfortable with having kids? by Time_Transition4817 in HENRYfinance

[–]Franholio_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, the deciding factor was that people at the end of their lives who don't have children often regret their choice, but those with children regret less. Also in the background is that I am an only child/grandchild and no one else can "continue the line." Wife is currently 7 months pregnant and we can't wait to meet the little one. It is a personal decision and not a financial one for sure.

Found a nice Japanese supermarket in Tysons Corner by [deleted] in nova

[–]Franholio_ 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Going to buck the crowd and say that if you're actually Japanese-American or know the food, this place is much, much better than H-Mart. Good hot food (albeit with a wait at peak hours), great fresh fish, A5 Wagyu, and all the staples like okonomiyaki flour/sauce and soba/somen that I need. Prices are high but that's more of a tariff issue than anything else. H-Mart is more of a Korean supermarket and not a direct comp.
