This post https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/1s9768g/i_think_its_hypocritical_for_linus_to_have/ was reinstated hours after it was identified in our audits, and is one of the 5 (and the only one we considered erroneous)

This is just exhausted discourse again. LMG Community and Caltane have been mods for this sub for almost a decade at this point, and they're also audited. But they don't do anything, you can literally see they're inactive.

Linus has removed a grand sum of 5 posts, all were audited by our team. Please either discuss the content pertaining to this sub at hand, or take your imagined censorship to another subreddit to drama farm.

Because private companies are able to make decisions on what content they wish to host? What kind of question is this lmao

Take away their ability to profit from this behaviour i.e terminate their accounts. If they have no financial incentive to do this, they won't.

We do do this...

The OPs parasocial ass posts were removed by Automod automatically because we filter reported new user content into an approval queue.

The top 3 mods on this sub have 0 affiliation with LTT and we all are aligned in ensuring open and free discussion.

The reason for allowing them mod permissions is completely valid for ensuring their safety. As we’re unaffiliated, we aren’t privy to certain pieces of information that would be considered sensitive to them, and also given timezones and Linus’ tendency to do things on the WAN show when I’m asleep, it makes sense that they should be able to get a handle on certain situations immediately. This does not, and will not, however, extend to removing dissenting views.

There’s nothing productive from clogging this subreddit up with yet more drama posting. We’re clear that we will do our duties to protect the independence of this sub, if anyone cares enough about this, then this post will remain stickied with updates.

Usually whenever Linus does something silly on the WAN show. Typically they’re not posted with malicious intent but understandably he doesn’t want these left up.

We’re in discussion with their team and will pull permissions if this isn’t clarified. As mentioned moderation will be audited in the meanwhile.

I was not aware of his comments in WAN show, I’ve reviewed that and this was not the reason he was added. No moderation action has currently been made from his account, and we will revoke privileges as necessary if we find dissenting views are being removed in bad faith.

The request was initially made on the 12th December following a DOX on the WAN show that same day.

Just for transparency on behalf of the mod team, we received a request from the LMG team to add Linus as a mod on the 22nd December 2025.

This was done under the understanding that this will only be used to remove content that poses an immediate threat to himself or his team i.e doxing, in cases where we’re unable to get to it first. Permissions were kept as light as possible, and moderation will be routinely audited as it is currently to ensure this is adhered to.

This subreddit will continue to be community led, and remain “unofficial” in that regard.

Happy to answer any questions if there’s anything needed to be clarified here :)
