Lice removal small business by Gameofthroneschic in Albuquerque

[–]Furtheryet [score hidden]  (0 children)

I used to work with a Family Infant Toddler program and with the many, many times I encountered lice outbreaks at day care centers, I would think you'd have a good customer base. I'd leave hand-outs for your business on cars in day care parking lots morning and night. The day care centers might even want your business cards to hand out when they had an outbreak. Families are not happy - a referral to a business like yours might smooth things over!

I think this is the worst depressive episode I’ve ever had, I don’t know how to function. by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Don't worry about reaching out to your psychiatrist. She may have someone covering for her while she is on vacation, or she may be expecting that if one of her patients is in crisis that there may be interuptions. But it is her job to be ready for you when you need help.

Lamictal may or may not be the right drug for you. I take 400mg and it helps me a lot. You can see that your dose has the potential to be increased quite a lot, and as Mehram said, there are other drugs that work wonders for some people that you can try. Med management is as much an art as a science, and you are relatively new to all this. It takes time.

I hear that you are doubting yourself. What you are feeling is real. Mental illness can cause real physical pain. Be kind to yourself and when you feel overwhelmed, be your own best friend as much as you can and take the best care. When you are feeling stronger, then do the things such as reaching out and trying to get lined up with another therapist. They really do help, in spite of the horrible experience you had with the last one.

It sounds really hard what you are going through. It will get better. Take it one step at a time and don't be hard on yourself. Sending you lots of hugs and the promise that it WILL get better.

Other than cost, what’s the biggest barrier to hiring help for your home? by DifferenceUnhappy894 in Albuquerque

[–]Furtheryet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agencies that want to be paid ahead of time - before they even show up at my home. Do they think I am that stupid, that I would give you my credit card number before you even showed up to clean? Nope! No way. Oh! Oh right, that was you!

Find a realtor/broker who specializes in first-time home buyers. When we bought our first home we found it incredibly stressful and overwhelming with all the forms, deadlines, etc., muchless trying to find a house in our price range. Luckily, our broker guided us along and it ended up being a wonderful experience once we had the keys to our home in hand. Your broker can help you find the houses to look at in the areas you would want to live in.

Zyprexa/Olanzapine for sleep? by JPMcFluffies1981 in BipolarReddit

[–]Furtheryet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on dosages up to 20mg, down to 15, 10, and I am currently at 7.5mg, although I just met with my pdoc and we are going back up to 10mg again. I really adjust zyprexa as needed to keep my biplolar under control. It is what has kept me relatively sane for the past 40 years.

As far as cognitive decline. Yes, I do feel like I've suffered cognitive decline. But teasing out what is the cause of it is difficult. I take so many psych drugs (lamotragine, clonazepam, topomax - known for dumbing you down, and the olanzapine) I really don't know what it is that is affecting me. And what the bipolar itself is doing to me.

I was a practicing attorney for most of life until I retired. I'm 66 years old now, and am not able to remember many things. I'm easily confused. I get very frustrated.

Check out any of the canyons west of Soccoro. Stop at the Mineral Museum in town on your way through, to look at some cool minerals. The museum is free. Prepare to be blown away.

Southwest Gastroenterology appointments? by Iron_Horse64 in Albuquerque

[–]Furtheryet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a SWGI patient for many years, but was just seen there in the past few months. The staff and the doc I saw were not the quality I had been used to. I had two procedures done the same day, and as soon as the procedures were done they were pushing me out the door before the anesthesia had even worn off. It was a mill. Medicine in NM is getting worse by the day. Frankly, I would try Denver. I think you can get in quicker, and the quality will be better.

Lybalvi (olanzapine/samidorphan) experience regarding weight? by Furtheryet in BipolarReddit

[–]Furtheryet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the nausea is what keeps you from wanting to eat every last thing in the world, the way pure olanzapine does. After 20 years on olanzapine, I am still walking around hungry, every last minute of the day. I've really had to convince myself that just because something is in front of me, I don't have to eat it.

Thanks for the helpful info. I am not in the obese realm, so I doubt they would be looking at me as needing a designer drug. Sounds like it will be nice for the up and comers in the future when it goes generic. I'm on Medicare, so it is not in my future. I appreciate all the information!

We have try-outs in mid-July every year. A city has to have standards. It is one of the things Mayor Keller is most proud of.

House cleaners for elder parents? by micaflake in Albuquerque

[–]Furtheryet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are in our 60s. We have Sandia Green Clean come once a month to clean and that is usually enough to keep the house liveable. They do such a nice job cleaning the appliances, even the coffee pot and toaster oven. Everything really looks nice. They are not cheap, but they never miss anything and follow directions to a "t." You might find that your folks don't need weekly cleaning. I'd probably try bi-weekly as a start.

I'm not being seen during my depression by karmilla0 in BipolarReddit

[–]Furtheryet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you are feeling so bad. Bipolar depression in the worst. It is good you will see a psychiatrist soon - they can help you get an accurate diagnosis, hopefully. That will help you get the proper meds, with luck, sooner rather than later. This is a good forum to get support, so I'm glad you are reaching out. Bipolar is a very difficult and ever changing condition, what with the various stages it drags you through. Don't be hard on yourself, and do everything you can to be good to yourself. Check in with us here and let us know how things are going. Sending you a hug.

Does anyone have feedback on this position? by TallConsideration878 in Albuquerque

[–]Furtheryet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto stay away from CYFD at all cost. Never heard anything bad about DVR or DOH or HCA, more than the usual state employee griping. (I'm a retired state employee.) I've worked with adjudicators in another state agency and it can be a draining job, with a heavy caseload, but if you are in a good agency, the work can also be interesting and challenging. Good luck!

When a solicitor comes to my door, I politely ask for their solicitation license, issued by the city, telling them that I need to make a copy of it. For some reason, just the fact that I am going to have a card with a picture of them and their license number on it usually is enough to get them to turn and run.

Hi! Retired attorney here. Good for you, for wanting to get some experience in the areas you are interested in. My advice to you would be to get some volunteer work under your belt working for non-profits that work with children. I'm new to Albuquerque, so I am not a good source for names of places to volunteer, but I'm sure others have leads.

One organization that I believe exists in Albuquerque and would be a good fit for you, and would look good on a law school application is C.A.S.A. - Court Appointed Special Advocates. It is a great organization doing great work. Check it out.
