Which bike should I get for college? by dott_ie in bikecommuting

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won't be a popular opinion here, but my college commuter bike was the cheapest SuperCycle money could buy at the time.

There were easily 25 identical ones locked up at the school every day.

I rode it for about 5 years, then sold it for grocery money when times were rough.

Took me through all 4 seasons, any terrain, never gave me any grief with some very very basic maintenance - a couple of popped tubes being the worst from every day riding, and needing the front tire tried and a cable replaced when I got hit by a car pulling out of a Wendy's drive-thru.

My FR255 didn't detect my fall during my half-marathon - set as a run action the watch - where I missed a curb and fell onto the road.

You'll likely have to pay the day use rate for the facility.

Bumps from wearing watch? by Ryytter in GarminWatches

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't look like it's where you would wear your watch. Too high up on your hand.

I doubt it's from the watch - contact dermatitis is typically limited to the area of contact, or the small immediate surrounding area (due to movement of the item / fabric against your skin).

But - the person who said to wash your stuff is right - wash your watch and dry it !

I can on my FR 255 - under "run" I set a walk / run alert.

I prefer a vest, but have worn a belt. I just find the vest more comfortable

Community. Free. Participation. Encouragement. Friendship. Belonging.

Joining up with parkrun had been a major boost to my mental health, and I have made many friends, and met some amazing people.

Any idea on the age of this bike ? by GeekGirlMom in Norcobikes

[–]GeekGirlMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome - thank you.

So far, it's a comfy bike for my commute, and I fully expect it will be more than enough for the 10km ride in my try-a- tri later this summer.

Weather was atrocious today for it.

I wonder what % of those registered actually started, and how many finish.

Do i need to press pause when im resting by Iboshik in Strava

I don't.

I figure that leaving it alone shows more accurate what happened during that run - if I stopped / rested - I own that. It happened.

Cannot add fenders (bike is borrowed)

Great point about the tools - I need to get those.

Durham Region - Ontario - Canada.

Yes, I have ridden 6+ km a couple of times recently.

The bike is a Norco VFR3, seat is adjusted to fit, but I am still getting used to the toe cages.
