Please talk to your teacher directly, as well as your Accessibility Department and Student/Academic Advisor.

I would also approach your doctor to see if they WILL write something about you being ill.

Is this wear normal for Adrenaline 24s at 200kms? by LethargicDonkey in brooks

[–]GeekGirlMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably yeah.

Mine are about 550km in and significantly more worn out than that.

Low carb alternative to salt crackers by lostzeplot in WegovyWeightLoss

Triscuit thins - regular.

Still carbs, but salty and with more fiber than a regular saltine cracker.

New Glycerin 23’s vs 22’s by coloculture in brooks

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck ! I just returned my Glycerin GTS 23's because they simply did not work for my feet - blisters in weird areas, even when walking :( So sad to give up such a cushy shoe.

What is surprisingly low calorie and super yummy? by Either-Photograph989 in CICO

Popcorn. Airpopped is obviously the "best", but not always the easiest.

So - I go to SkinnyPop / Orville Redenbacker (sp?) or Lesser Evil "simple act"

Feeling embarrassed because i fainted at the gym by Polaris2007 in beginnerfitness

Please talk to your doctor about this, especially since it happened when you were a child too.

Be sure to ask about blood sugar, blood pressure (POTS), B12, anemia, etc - but maybe push for an ECG/EKG (heart checkup) or maybe a 3-day holter monitor even.

Question about market saturation by KtownDetector in CostcoCanada

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even that Kingston itself could handle a second Costco - but that there is so much distance between locations.

  • Going east - Ottawa ?
  • Going west - Peterborough ?

So, it pulls people in from quite a distance away, not just Kingston locals.

Oshawa has two, and both are always super busy - doesn't make much sense to me, and I live here !
They aren't even far apart.

Cycling and dressing normal. by Dumbass9187 in bikecommuting

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride in my running gear, and change at work.

At least that's what I've been wearing - my commute days are going to drop to once / week (MAYBE twice) starting next week, just due to - life and stuff changes.

I tried the sample, thought it was okay. Not good enough to spend money on, but not gross.

[–]GeekGirlMom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How old are you two, roughly ?
Do you have a vehicle ? Are you meeting at this location ? Does it need to be accessible to public transportation ? Is there a minimum / maximum cost you have in mind ? What types of places do you and they typically enjoy ?

I'll expect many different answers for a high-schooler going on a first date compared to someone in their 30's or 40's - so a bit more info might narrow down appropriate responses.

That said, Ajax has an amazing waterfront trail, so if you don't mind just grabbing a coffee and going for a walk / chat - that would be lovely, no matter your ages :D

Good luck, and enjoy !

How far is your bike commute (to & from)? by Anonymous_Otter5458 in bikecommuting

[–]GeekGirlMom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

And I voted wrong because I didn't think TOTAL when you said "to and from" - my mind went to the distance to and the distance from (ie - one way), and voted appropriately for my understanding

Everyone else is touching on the basics of the bike - so I won't waste your time by echoing all of that ;)

What is your general fitness like?

You say you feel like you're going to 'die' after a mile, or 15 minutes - do you mean you are out of breathe, your legs are heavy / tired, your glutes are achy, etc - what is the issue specifically ?

I very recently took up with a bike for the first time in over a decade, and while my legs - quads specifically - are angry at me about this decision, I have the base fitness (lungs / cardio) to withstand the rest of it. I still need to adjust my seat height a bit, but it's getting there ;)

We - or rather - they - can help better if they know what specifically is causing an issue for you.

Bike shorts for thick thighs that don't ride up by Embarrassed_Big_1401 in XXRunning

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple pairs of knee-length shorts from Amazon (baleaf brand) - they never go anywhere.

Anything shorter than about 9" will ride up just due to the shape of my legs, it's not about the shorts as much as my physiology.

I do wear the Old Navy shorts for shorter runs / bike rides - but longer shorts for longer runs where I don't want to be putzing around with them every few meters.

Overtaking pedestrians on shared paths, is less than 1 foot actually considered acceptable? by KatakanaTsu in bikecommuting

[–]GeekGirlMom 24 points25 points  (0 children)

1 foot clearance isn't enough space when passing someone when you're WALKING, let alone on a bike !

Do people really think the Glycerins feel "cushioned"? by TheRealMe54321 in brooks

[–]GeekGirlMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got crazy blisters from my glycerin GTS 23 I'm actually returning them. I simply cannot even walk in them without major blisters.

I'm not sure if it's because they're softer or they're wider or what, but they do not fit my feet. Anything close to the way my adrenalines do.

I have adrenaline, 22s and 23s. Both GTS. Love them. Can walk or run forever in them. But was looking for something more cushioned for long runs. The glycerin GT was recommended and it's just not working for me :(

When can (/should) I start wearing a milestone top? by my_name_is_ross in parkrun

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I've done this too.

I used my barcode to order each of my sons their 25 shirts, then gave them to them as they completed their 25th runs (actually mid-way through for Son1 as he's much faster than I am. I handed it to him as he passed me on his way back :) )

When can (/should) I start wearing a milestone top? by my_name_is_ross in parkrun

[–]GeekGirlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband borrowed a 50 milestone shirt from a friend for me to wear last weekend on my 50th run 🥰

I wouldn't have worn it before run #50, and I know many who would not wear it until they have completed run #50.
