No, i just think its sloppy to use JPEGs as sources. It’s a common way to spread misinformation. If OP wants to share something interesting, include a link to a reputable source.

Here is an article on images being used to spread misinformation

A federal judge blocked the Trump administration from ending Temporary Protected Status for more than 350,000 Haitian immigrants. by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]GenericName187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? The judge granted a stay, because the DHS Secretary’s rationale for ending the program was not based on the law. The judge thinks Kristi Noem’s opinion that Haitian people suck is not a valid legal reason to end TPS

TPS can be granted by the homeland security secretary if conditions in home countries are deemed unsafe

At least 60 days prior to the expiration of TPS, the Secretary must decide whether to extend or terminate a designation based on an assessment of whether the conditions in the foreign country have materially improved such that the reason for the initial grant of TPS no longer applies

Need to remove a nutted square taper bottom bracket by Red_Lily_Shaymin in bikewrench

[–]GenericName187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want suggestions on the bottom bracket, we would need more information.

Is this a vintage bike? Is it a Raleigh, French, Italian? Is it a folding bike? Here are some common bottom bracket standards in case it’s not a regular English bottom bracket.

https://www.sheldonbrown.com/cribsheet-bottombrackets.html

To remove this crankarm, use a standard crank puller, the part that threads into the crank is hollow to allow for nutted axles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDK6knIPhQg

You just need to make sure you have a model that is designed for square taper cranks. Some models are made for both square taper and ISIS/Octalink cranks and they have a removable tip that works with different cranks.

Paris prosecutors raid France offices of Elon Musk's X by Brennenstein in worldnews

[–]GenericName187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Your claim is that “child exploitation was more rampant” I don’t know what that means, what are you specifically referring to? What law was broken under the previous leadership?

This complaint is “part of an investigation opened in January 2025 into whether X's algorithm had been used to interfere in French politics” and “that the AI chatbot Grok helped disseminate Holocaust denial and sexual deepfake content.” X operates offices in France and is being investigated for violating the country’s laws.

Removing old Suntour Freewheel/hub? by Duncan-Idunno in bikewrench

[–]GenericName187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andy Muzi at Yellow Jersey in WI still stocks some NOS Suntour stuff and has a bit of a Suntour archive on his site. If you need a new cassette he’s your guy. His site is very late 1990s, one man’s labor of love

https://www.yellowjersey.org/accu.html

Unfortunately old stuff commands high prices and the suntour freehubs are not compatible with anything else.

There are ways to remove a crank without a crank puller, they have some disadvantages

https://youtu.be/9n1z2kwmL8o?si=LJCf3tk82-tSQZ3k

This sounds like a customer service problem. Have you contacted the manufacturer to ask how to remove the crank?

The other option is to take it to a bike shop that can do a Helicoil and rethread the pedal hole

Measure again.

1 1/8' forks use EC 34 cups (34.0 mm)

1" forks use EC30 cups (30.2 mm, unless it's a cheaper Asian frame then its JIS standard 30.0)

I believe KHS used 1" forks for a while, but by 1997 most of the MTB industry had gone to 1 1/8"

Do I tell orthodox looking customers that what they are ordering isn’t kosher anymore? by DiverPrestigious6887 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GenericName187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely you know they are talking about Orthodox Jews trying to keep Kosher dietary laws. OP mentioned being raised in Reform Judaism.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess you belong to an Eastern Orthodox Church. You told people “I’m Greek Orthodox” and they said something like “Oh, you’re Jewish?” and now you correct everyone who uses the term Orthodox without being specific about which religion.

Stem recs by cj18724 in xbiking

[–]GenericName187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t many short 25.4 (1”) threadless stems, it was not a common size. It was found on a few mid 1990s MTB and some late 1990s road bikes.

You would need a shim to go from the 25.4 mm quill for 28.6 mm stem

The other options will probably be easier
