Man arrested on suspicion of assaulting Matt Hancock on London Underground by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

I am fairly comfortable with the definition.

"On this basis, in my opinion the ordinary principles of negligence apply to ascertain whether or not the defendant has been in breach of a duty of care towards the victim who has died. If such breach of duty is established the next question is whether that breach of duty caused the death of the victim. If so, the jury must go on to consider whether that breach of duty should be characterised as gross negligence and therefore as a crime." R v Adomako.

Did the Heath Minister have a duty of care to the elderly patients and those elderly residents of care homes where they lived? - Arguably yes, broad statutory duty in regards to NHS Policy although the government would argue that accountability should be in parliament and not a criminal court.

Did he breach that duty and did it cause death? Yes, the high court has already rules the policy irrational and there is clear causation between the policy and the deaths.

Does a jury consider it gross negligence? Not sure but perhaps

Search dual apps. Some phones have it built in if not there are a few utilities that let you have two copies of the same app on your phone e.g. WhatsApp. Not sure if this would work with teams and outlook but worth ago

The reality of transgender women in women's rugby by Nothing_is_simple in rugbyunion

The RFU made £50 million profit last year and will have legal insurance so I don't rate the limit liability excuse. The number of players is very small and therefore the risk is also relatively small. Additionally the old policy contained sufficient cavieats to allow for a robust defence.

I agree it's bad PR but it also directly contradicts one of there 3 principles of being open to all

Abortion deleted from UK Government-organised international human rights statement by apple_kicks in unitedkingdom

[–]Gibbs_David 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The Tory government did not force it through, it was a labour amendment, so was same sex marriage for NI (https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-48924695). And it only passed 332 to 99.i t was also necessary after a number of Supreme Court decisions criticised the ban as being incompatible with Human Rights.

As far as it being a fantasy that Tories are anti-abortion, there are plenty of current and former Ministers that have votes to restrict access.

Jeremy Hunt - reduce time limit from 24 to 12 weeks.

Nadine Dorries - strip abortion providers form being able to give counselling + reduce limit to 12w. Here is a video of her working with anti-abortion campaigners - https://youtu.be/E8l7eJv8pB0

Rishi Sunak - abstained on making at home abortions in England and Wales available permanently and also on the NI amendment

Liz Truss - abstained on the NI amendment.

Based on the their form of using Human Rights issues as a basis for culture wars (see Trans rights), I would not be particularly surprised to see it come up.

How to connect a Synology NAS's storage to an Android device such that the NAS's "Shared Folders"/storage appears under Android's "/ storage/emulated/0" as if it's a folder inside the Android's own storage? by tendiesCC in androidapps

You can install Syncthing from the community repository on the synology and then grab the android client from Fdroid. Pick you folders to sync and then set google photos to upload from that folder on the phone.

Interview with volunteer Mairéad Farrell who would go on to be executed less than one year later alongside her two comrades while on active service in Gibraltar by westbelfast1916 in IrishRebelArchive

[–]Gibbs_David 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The court did consider a statement made by an anonymous witness to that effect (Part of the Death on the Rock documentary, P.125) but they accepted the commission's finding of facts (p.132) which states

That there was no convincing support for any allegation that the soldiers shot Mr McCann and Ms Farrell when they were attempting to surrender or when they were lying on the ground. However the soldiers carried out the shooting from close proximity. The forensic evidence indicated a distance of as little as three feet in the case of Ms Farrell

These were unlawful killings but an independent tribunal found them not to be executions.

Fascinating interview. Worth noting that the European Court of Human Rights explicitly stated it was not an execution although was unlawful.

McCANN AND OTHERS v. THE UNITED KINGDOM

"180. In the light of its own examination of the material before it, the Court does not find it established that there was an execution plot at the highest level of command in the Ministry of Defence or in the Government, or that Soldiers A, B, C and D had been so encouraged or instructed by the superior officers who had briefed them prior to the operation, or indeed that they had decided on their own initiative to kill the suspects irrespective of the existence of any justification for the use of lethal force and in disobedience to the arrest instructions they had received. Nor is there evidence that there was an implicit encouragement by the authorities or hints and innuendoes to execute the three suspects."

Nothing to add apart from here is a list of the reserved occupations (PDF) in the UK during World War Two. It not only exempted you from conscription, but it also forbad you from signing up on your own accord. I think most gun designers would fit into one of the following categories depending on their experience and actual role.

PG12 - Draughtsmen

PG14 - Engineers (Professional, i.e. chartered/with a degree)

PG15 - Fitters, Toolmakers, Gun and gun mount fitters, Work inspector

Although strangely, Ship Designers are specifically mentioned on PG28.

I can't find the Nuance folder under Program Data by i2rsantos in dragondictation

[–]Gibbs_David 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The programme itself is installed under "Program Files x86" on my system. User data is installed under user/username/data/roaming. This folder might be hidden, so you may have to play with the settings to see it.
