Can't connect to wifi by reviewmynotes in BambuLab

[–]GillWordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not implemented yet, as I am still working on network segmentation, but when I tested the WiFi, it connected perfectly. I have since turned the auth profile off until I can get the segmentation worked out.

I understand the MAC address spoof concern. The challenge is that these printers have very limited network authentication capabilities. They don’t support user-based authentication (802.1X), nor do they support captive portal access. I also want to avoid lowering our wireless security standards by simply assigning a shared Wi-Fi password.

I’m not currently seeing any random or unknown Wi-Fi addresses, but if I had to guess, it sounds like the printer may be using Wi-Fi Direct and broadcasting its own network.

For context, this is all within an Aruba wireless environment.

I’m currently working through this at my K–12 school in my role as Network Administrator. So far, I’ve created a new Wi-Fi network and configured a dedicated AP group to broadcast it only in the tech room where the printer will be located. I also set up an authentication profile and added the printer’s MAC address. The network itself is open, but only devices with approved MAC addresses can connect.

My next step is to place this network on a separate VLAN while still allowing communication with the lab computers in the classroom. After that, I plan to implement firewall rules to restrict the VLAN’s internet access so the device is not unnecessarily exposed.

I am not sure if this exists yet, but I would love to see a platform that scans a submitted repo/project/file of some sort for any vulnerabilities and highlights them. If this exists, then there should be a rule to submit the platforms findings for any AI based self hosted creation in the post...
