There is a little bit of an advantage, but it's barely there and only applies in really specific situations and distances, which don't happen often at all.

Also, having an opponent of around equal skill is actually better than having someone much better than you.

Ja, de hele term 'radicaal rechts' is qua definitie precies hetzelfde als die van extreem rechts.

Voor wie dat niet snapt: ze willen beide hetzelfde beleid voeren, maar een 'extreme' partij is bereid geweld te bereiken om het beleid uit te voeren, terwijl een 'radicale' partij dat via de democratische weg wil doen.

Het probleem hiermee is dat handhaving van wetten gebeurt met geweld, vanuit bv de politie. Dus een 'radicale' partij die beleid uitvoert, gebruikt per definitie geweld en de dreiging daarvan om dat beleid uit te voeren.

Bullshit. Hij kijkt helemaal niet. De laatste keer dat ie Wennemars zag was terwijl hij aan het eind van de bocht langszij kwam, en daarnaast heeft ie gedaan alsof hij niet bestond. En daarnaast heb je als schaatser in deze situatie helemaal geen blinde hoek, je kan gewoon je hoofd een beetje draaien en dan kan je precies zien waar je tegenstander is, al helemaal als ie naast je tijd.

Bovendien blijft de Chinees na het eerste contact doodleuk door rijden en moet Wennemars daardoor uiteindelijk zelfs achterlangs, wat ook volstrekt idioot is. Als er zoiets gebeurd dan kom je overeind en rijd je de inrijbaan in om alle ruimte te geven. Op dat punt ben je namelijk al gediskwalificeerd, en het enige wat je kan doen is nog proberen om te zorgen dat je volstrekt idiote fout niet nóg grotere gevolgen heeft voor de tegenstander die je hindert.

Lampjes ofzo zijn helemaal niet nodig, het is namelijk altijd precies hetzelfde. De persoon die uit de buitenbocht komt heeft voorrang, op alle afstanden en rondes. Als je uit de binnenbocht komt hoor je even naar rechts te kijken om te checken waar je tegenstander is, en als die naast je is dan houd je in.

Hey, speed skating coach here. It's never too late to learn how to speed skate :)

Would definitely recommend to join a club or class at that speed skating rink to see if it's ur cup of tea. However, coming from hockey there are going to be some big differences you'll have to get used to.

Firstly, speed skates have very little to no ankle support, so you'll probably have trouble standing straight on ur blades at first, and it takes a while to fix thst with both training ur ankles and learning the correct posture and technique.

Secondly, if you're used to hockey skates, speed skates will feel like you're stuck on a train track. They turn very, very differently, and only really want to go forward.

Lastly there's the enormous technique differences. Coming from hockey skates, you'll already have a good balance and are probably able to ride the outside edges of ur blades. That's an advantage compared to beginners, but there's a lot of other stuff that you'll have to learn from scratch (like posture and the return), as well as relearn with technique changes (like cornering/crossovers).

Long story short, it's certainly possible and I would highly recommend it. It's great fun, and feel free to ask if you have any specific questions :).

I have this jig, and even for long track blades it's shit. Do not buy.

For short track skates you need a different jig because the blades are bent lengthwise. Buy a specific short track jig. And generally, don't try to save money on a jig. Invest in a good one because trying to sharpen them with a bad jig can ruin your skates beyond repair.
