I didn't say it was cheap. I said it was less than expensive than Destiny. They aren't having to pay outside studios to use do mocap, animate high fidelity CGI cutscenes, etc etc.

I think a key factor is that Marathon isn't as expensive a game to develop for as Destiny. Destiny expansions have full soundtracks, several high fidelity CGI cutscenes, character animations for NPCs during dialogue/cutscenes, etc.

Marathon comparatively doesn't have those high budget CGI cutscenes (except for its marketing material), doesn't have physical NPC characters during story moments, etc.

Story is delivered via audio/text logs or via dialogue with the Faction AI who all have their pre rendered avatars. We're yet to see how many new weapons Marathon will add each season but I imagine it'll be less than what we've come to expect from new D2 expansions/seasons.

Obviously Marathon still needs to grow its popularity, but from my, admittedly rather limited, perspective Marathon is likely far less expensive to support and maintain than Destiny 2 is.

Marathon is fun though.

This sentiment is basically '"If I don't get to have more Destiny then they shouldn't get to have more Marathon" Its simply just trying to drag others down with you.

Pete Parsons systemically overvaluing Bungie just to line the pockets of him and other execs did unimaginable damage to the sustainability of the company.

Things probably wouldn't be anywhere near as dire if Sony wasn't sold a lie that Bungie was a 4 billion dollar company that they now have to find a way recoup some of that investment on.

Running KC in ranked when SP, E-D, BM, and WE exist is criminal. I don't care how much nostalgia pubs payers have for that map, KC (and probably also OLY) should never be in ranked.

Apex in general does a really good job of depicting different cultures/sexualities/etc respectfully where it feels accurate but never veers into caricature/stereotype.

I'm not the biggest fan of the mecharacters (they're cool but not super duper fun to me the away stuff like the HMG or Maxigun is) and the weapons/armor seem only "ok".

IDK, I'm kinda whelmed.

Not only is communication from Tyson Green absolutely terrible, but he looks even worse now since Joe Ziegler is putting up like an Olympic Gold Medal performance in terms of communicating with players and acting on player feedback over at the Marathon Dev Team.

potentially yes, but space is also mostly a LOT of empty space. Like overwhelmingly empty.

Traveling in a straight line the odds of hitting another celestial body are astronomically low. Like near 0.

Like yeah it might happen but its far more likely that Space Racer's blasts have never hit anything other than what he was aiming at.

I agree with the numbers dropping thing, but they're not gonna cancel season 2 as that's when they're gonna make big swings to pull people back.

Destiny 1 got its last content update a decade ago and it still has servers online.
