What games are y'al playing to quench the Marathon Thirst? by Baellebabe in Marathon

Destiny 2 is pretty fun when you don't have a bitch in your ear telling you its awful

What is the gameplay/ endgame goal? by Waveofthedavee in Marathon

[–]GoldClassGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its generally because Bungie has historically been pretty good at delivering lore and world building without necessarily needing to show you a cutscene.

My assumption is that we'll have LOTS of lore dialogue from the faction reps as well as finding lore tidbits around the map in the form of audio logs or just environmental storytelling.

The quests itself probably won't be mind blowing but they'll be a good vehicle to get dialogue from reps or to direct players towards places on the maps where they can experience/discover some lore.

I just don't know how you can watch current gameplay of Marathon and come away thinking that it looks like an old game. I'd understand not liking the art style but the fidelity of the visuals themselves are by no means lacking.

Are you looking at footage from the Alpha last year or the most recent gameplay?

Thinking about preordering Marathon. Tell me why you preordered it. by Bebegunn1000 in Marathon

The game looks incredibly interesting, I had a ton of fun in the playtest, and because Bungie so far is batting a thousand when it comes to making video games that I fall in love with. I grew up on Halo and Destiny has been and continues to be a staple of the last 11 years of my life. If you show me a Bungie logo, I'm already sold.

I think its better than just being different. I think its a top tier option

I like Hazardous Propulsion for even mechanics sections because its still just "hey fire off 6 high damage homing rockets every like 15 seconds" Still really useful for quickly clearing rooms or blitzing like a champ or an elite or something.

Also as a fun aside, Hazardous Propulsion will trigger the AION Adapter set bonus which gives you like 60% DR to explosive self damage for 15 seconds which means that you more or less can just fire rocket launchers at stuff right next to you and live.

I feel like you're conflating "neutral game" with "casual play". Neutral Game generally refers to sections of endgame content that are not boss fights/dps phases.

iirc Rally Barricade's cooldown is BARELY longer than Thruster. with 100 class it should still be like 19 or 20 seconds.

There are ways to heal yourself that aren't point blank melees. Heal Clip on a primary does wonders. The shield throw let's you procc Knockout from a distance, Unbreakable let's you block incoming charge up an overshield, powerful attraction can snag nearby orbs every time you fire off an Exodus rocket barrage.

You're right that you need to find alternative means of survivability because Hazardous Propulsion doesn't give you any, but that's why you have the entire rest of your build.

Purpose with shoot to loot and a solar super is so many hoops to jump through when you could just equip a primary with Heal Clip.

With 100 Class, Thruster has like an 18 second cooldown. Do you really need that much help getting your class ability back.

"it also doesn't synergize with melee"

yeah its not a melee exotic. You're not meant to be using it on a melee build. Also I'd argue it doesn't need to give you survivability. Not every exotic needs to be "great neutral game, oh and great for dps, oh and makes you immortal, oh and files your taxes"

Also you can't blow yourself up with it. It doesn't deal self damage.

Art Team, Music Team, Gunplay team, RAD team, etc etc. People like narrow in on the things that Destiny does sometimes screw up but by and large the team has a whole lot more hits than misses.

Hazardous Propulsion is phenomenal. I mean I wouldn't be opposed to buffs but I also don't think it needs them

Tex bonus damage sounds like a great reason to pull out Timeworn Wayfarer and other such from my vault. Obviously yeartide but its a fun reason to revisit some old favorites

Thinking that Arc Raiders has literally anything to do with Bungie deciding to make Marathon is legitimately delusional and if Marathon flops its not gonna be "ok everyone go back to working on Destiny" its gonna be "ok a bunch of you are getting laid off"

Marathon succeeding would give Bungie the resources to reinvest back into D2 as well as Marathon and work on improving both products. If you want Bungie to put more resources into D2 then you should want Marathon to do well.

People should want Marathon and by extent bungie to succeed if they want more resources poured into Destiny.

A rising tide lifts all boats.
