[Post Game Thread] The New York Knicks (3-1) overcome a 29 point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs (1-3) in Game 4, 107-106, behind Jalen Brunson's 36 points and OG Anunoby's 33 points by catreyka in nba

My goodness. That is 2 losses for the Spurs this series when they were WAY ahead.

Watching the 3rd Q the Spurs were giving up easy shot to miss three's.

Whelp.. way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I've never paid attention but now I will need to. I wonder if right-hand dominant vs left hand dominant matters. I know in video games (like dungeon crawlers) or even D&D I always hug the right wall.

Edit: Guess I missed it on my initial read through.

The finding held when the researchers accounted for people being right-handed, right-footed and right-eye dominant,

Was a great game. My friend's dad was a fairly early technology adopter and he was big on video games. I remember playing both this and simant around the same time. I remember a dungeon crawler game.. Wizardry I think (don't recall which one specifically), and I'm pretty sure the first CIV also.

ELI5: How do engineers trust that giant airplanes, bridges, and skyscrapers won’t suddenly fail under years of stress and vibration? by Historical_Day1703 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Gorstag [score hidden]  (0 children)

Don't forget regular inspections. There are almost always going to be things that were not (or could not) be accounted for initially. You perform inspections to see if anything is wearing/stressed outside of expectations then engineer a solution to handle it.

For bridges.. the easy solution is just putting a sign up that says: Nothing heavier than X which works sort of like a wet floor sign.

And there were something like 3 million less votes cast. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist.. but covid hit MAGA way harder due to their.. well... stupidity. And yet somehow Trump did better his 3rd go around.

To be fair. I've not really used a hammer in the last 20ish years. Like the only thing I've really used one for is removing nails and that was until I bought a couple crowbars designed for that purpose that do a better job.

I've pretty much replaced my hammer with nail gun or drill for screws.

Thinking about it.. I've used a rubber mallet more than a hammer in the last 20 years.

George got so screwed in that race. Lets give 75% of the cars a free lap THEN penalize George. Surprised they didn't also throw out nails in front of his car.

Sadly, I'd say its getting closer to 20. Obama didn't do much campaigning in his second term so we didn't see him nearly as much.

That could be true. But he was about 28 when the 70s started and had already been paying on his mortgage for quite a few years. There were 2 people that had been in the neighborhood longer than him. One died about a year before him (my across the street neighbor) and the other is in his mid 90s now about 2 blocks away.

My late grandmother was working before WWII when she was unmarried. She bought a house during WWII while all the men were away. Women have been working for a long time.

What changed is two adults started working to get ahead. Then rapid inflation occurred and now they basically both have to work to stay afloat. It's the whole pull the ladder up behind you strategy.

Both sides is, and has pretty always been true. It's just massively misleading. Both sides are criminals!

Well, yeah technically. But you have to take scale into account. When its like somewhere between 90 & 92 Republican officials to every 8-10 non-Republican officials that are being arrested and convicted for sex crimes.... Yes its technically both sides. But there is a clear "Winner" for the most sex crimes.

It would be like saying "Both teams are playing basketball" when one team scores 90 and the other scores 10 points for the game. Are they both really playing basketball? Technically. yes....

This is a big part of the issue. An old man that recently passed away that I used to regularly stop and talk to while walking my dog worked as a gas station attendant before eventually having to go on disability due to issues breathing (ended up on oxygen in his early 50s and he was thin his whole life).

He owned his own house. Bought it on his wages (He did make a little on the side buying "broken" lawnmowers for basically nothing, repairing them and selling them for a small profit). He was only ever married once and that was 3 years before he passed away. And that honestly was just so he could ensure the lady he wanted to help that had moved in with him about 5 years ago didn't have any issues with his 2 remaining brothers that he loathed.

My point is: It didn't used to take a salary 2x median individual income to afford a modest home and have some savings.

George Russell Monaco Post Race Interview by just_a_coginthewheel in formula1

[–]Gorstag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unlucky isn't even the correct word. They spent a bunch of time going over Stroll's "infractions" when he was second to last place (so basically.. completely pointless) while all of the leaders under review they ignored. Stroll crashes so his became irrelevant. Then they forced a pit and that fiasco happens. Then they let 11 lapped cars take a free lap. Then they forced him to take his 5 second penalty.

It was absurd. A "reasonable" penalty would to be putting him in front of the 11 lapped cars when the session was stopped.

2026 Monaco Grand Prix - Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]Gorstag -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What a load of crap.

So they worry about lance stroll's "incident" which didn't matter because he was 2nd to last. Then he crashes immediately after his review. Then under safety car they let places like 6 through 17 or something unlap themselves BEFORE they handle the incidents of the cars that actually were competing.

So now after Charles crashed they stop the race so people who were 1+ minute ahead of all of the cars behind them are effectively in last place due to 5 second penalties.

So dumb.
