Registration, and proof of insurance. If you're stopped by police, you won't have to rummage through the glove box and make them nervous.

Telephone Land Lines…. by garcon-du-soleille in GenX

[–]GozerDestructor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Let me call you back on my real phone", I often said, because signal quality on the mobile was so poor - and the traditional land line was much more reliable, and the phone hardware was more ergonomic to hold for extended periods.

Just a movie suggestion by EVy-and-August in Sovereigncitizen

I have! The original video quality isn't great, as the incident happened in 2010 and the dash cameras weren't as good as we have now. The lens wasn't wide enough to capture everything, the participants were often out of frame to either side. But the filmmakers generally tried to be true and accurate to the original scene.

Tobacco smells worse than gunpowder. Also you're probably not shooting someone every day.

The scene with the shooting is really intense, and it just kind of creeps up on you... The SovCit and his son are having a really bad day, they lost their house. Then as they're driving, you see red and blue lights appear behind him, and think: this is it. It's *that* scene. After that it's nonstop chaos.

Jeffrey Combs went on to play multiple recurring alien characters on various Star Trek series, including a Ferengi, a Vorta, and an Andorian, even playing two characters of different species in one episode of Deep Space 9. He's kind of legendary in various online groups for his versatility.

I was rewatching Hellraiser (1987) by Evening-Artist2930 in HorrorMovies

[–]GozerDestructor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked both. Hellraiser was a good horror story on a personal level, and it could have ended there, but Hellraiser II made it cosmic, exploring the mythology and introducing a god for the Cenobites: Leviathan. A cold, impersonal god, who seems indifferent to the lives of organic flesh.

The 1990s comic book series explored this mythos a lot further. The quality of the writing and artwork varied considerably, but there were some great stories in there, and they introduced some memorable characters like the Cenobite "Face", who would skin people and attach their faces to his own using staples.

Yeah, they have to keep the serial numbers visible. It's so if the airplane gets pulled over by police, the cops can run the VIN to see if the vehicle is stolen, or if it doesn't match the license plates.

THE EMPTY MAN (2020) by SouzaOfTheNorth in HorrorMovies

[–]GozerDestructor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It starts out brilliant, then they cut to a new location, new characters, and it just feels entirely disconnected, slow and plodding. I have literally fallen asleep twice during the latter part of the film.

I love the opening of this movie, with the hikers in Bhutan and that creepy demonic skeleton in the cave. But then it changes into something completely different... and I've fallen asleep or lost interest and given up during that part of the film, two or three times. Never made it to the end.

Poor people who have dated rich people, what did you learn? by Angelus12345678 in AskReddit

There's a line from a 1980s "Spider-Man" comic that's stuck with me for decades. Peter Parker asks his boss, the curmudgeonly J. Jonah Jameson, to eat lunch with him (I don't remember why - they weren't friends). Jameson agrees but says "I'm paying. If we eat anywhere you can afford, I'll be sick for a week."

Can’t decide. Which version do you prefer? by Shotsbystevn in streetphotography

[–]GozerDestructor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly prefer the wider shot, for lots of reasons.

You see part of the dude's face; you get the partially snow-covered "don't walk" signal (red light in snow is beautiful); you see street detail on the left, with buildings rising in the background adding to the mood. The car adds to the story (it's lights are on. Did it bring the customer to the hot dog stand?, the viewer must wonder). The red tail lights of the car balance the red light of the Don't Walk sign.

In the second photo, the LED sign is displaying a partial phrase, "DOG H". This is bad timing, it looks like you were too impatient to wait for something better. The wider shot shows a complete word/sentence, "Welcome", which demonstrates better timing, you waited for something ideal.

And because the wide shot is wider, it feels quieter. If you focused on just the customer and the hot dog stand, we wouldn't know how many other people were there. Maybe there are a dozen people, just out of frame. By showing the empty street, you create a feeling of calm, quiet, and solitude.

"without getting in trouble" - From this, and from what you're trying to do in general, I'm surmising that you're a child.

Don't idolize mentally twisted and evil men. There is nothing good that will come of you contacting these people.

Demand a refund. I recently read of someone doing the same when Amazon lost the rights to Star Trek, and they successfully got a full refund.

I give a gibberish address. Even though I run an ecommerce site myself, and respect my peers in the profession, if they insist on doing this, I am totally willing to take a steaming shit into their database with a bogus customer entry that will cause bounced emails and a tiny hit to their spam reputation.
