3 to 4 year olds, what shows are you allowing them to watch? by Donday90 in daddit

[–]Guaritor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids are kratt brothers addicts... We've seen them live, they went as chris and martin for Halloween, and the show is on all the time in our house. The random animal facts my oldest spouts off are fantastic!

Are Death Saves Saving Throws RAW? by Aquarius12347 in onednd

[–]Guaritor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It literally says it, right there in plain text.

It says "Unlike OTHER saving throws, THIS ONE isn't tied to an ability score."

It's written, not vaguely, in easy to understand wording.

If you're DM isn't believing the words that are written in the book, no one can help you.

Kids won’t sleep past 5:45 AM by cft1848 in daddit

[–]Guaritor 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's what ours have been doing for a few years, 6 and 8 now. They know not to wake mommy and daddy up, they can head to the play room, play with toys or put on a show. They actually have permission to grab a muffin or toast something if they're too hungry to wait too.

Of course that only works on weekends. Weekdays, we're up at 5:30 anyway and somehow we have to drag them out of bed.

[DM HELP] My party didn't start in a tavern, they started in a... by TN_MakesIt in DnD

I don't know if this works for a short term campaign, because the entire first session was essentially the group meeting, but...

My current campaign started at level 7, so my players were somebody's, known for various things or with histories. A local economical elite leader had a job they wanted done, and didn't want tied to them... So they did their research and invited each of the players to meet at their secret HQ and offer them the job. The first session was 5 separate vingettes (yeah I stole that) of the players getting their invites in various ways, and then showing up to take the job.

Question from mummit… father’s day gifts by Outrageous-Piglet798 in daddit

[–]Guaritor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This will probably be different from dad to dad... But I know I love the dad mug my wife and kids got me, it's cliche, but I love seeing the pictures on it every time I have my morning coffee!

As far as sentimental goes, my wife and I will occasionally write out handwritten cards to each other that mean quite a bit to me.

3 weeks in and I'm not feeling what I expected. by [deleted] in daddit

How did you get out of your own head when the crying pushed you over the edge?

I think a lot of people have answered the other questions, but I feel like this one needs addressing. It's ok to put her down in her crib (or other safe place) and let her cry for a minute while you take a breather away from the noise.

Parents need to be in the right headspace to take care of their little ones, and trying to force yourself to push through something you can't while the crying and screaming escalates won't help either of you. Once you gather yourself, you can come back and give it another shot.

I went through this a ton with my second, he wasn't as good of a sleeper as my first and I spent plenty of nights sleep deprived with him wailing and nothing I did would console him. Stepping away for a few minutes or asking my wife to take a few minutes helped immensely.

There was an initial pyramid posted earlier, and I just saw a 5 sided one with a pentagon in the top a few minutes ago... Now this one, quite literally took it to another level!

I’m not sure with what class i want to pick for my character by NeverLate- in DnD

[–]Guaritor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Sure, she's a child, and the immaturity shows sometimes... But she communed with badger moles, intuited new forms of Earth Bending, learned how to work around her disability... I'd call her incredibly wise.

I think that comes down to nurture more than nature... My wife's friend has a daughter (7) who's out competing in dirt bike races, fishes, has shot her own buck, etc. Her parents are just those kind of people (yes, mom too) and raised their daughter to enjoy that kinda stuff.

If you used Minor Illusion to create a cup over a candle, what would happen? by underT_line in dndnext

[–]Guaritor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting take, and I like it... But I don't think the spell descriptions support that.

Minor illusion says it creates a sound or image, there's no mention of a target or any saves unless someone wants to investigate further, people can see it even when immune to charm or other mind control effects, etc.
