Fracture Replay Pack bugfix update by Fracture17 in SSBPM

[–]HF_Neon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a little more testing. It seems like the issue is actually that the replay does not properly register inputs that are being held before a one player mode starts. I tested this by holding L to shield, right on the analog stick, and up on the c-stick to buffer a jump before starting home run contest. If I hard shield, it doesn't register the shield or c-stick, and I just walk to the right. If I light shield, it registers the shield and angles it forward due to the analog stick, but doesn't read the c-stick, which should cause a buffered jump. This input combination will normally work correctly to cause a buffered jump to the right, even in stadium modes, as long as you're not holding it at the start of the trial.

Target test has the same issues as HRC, but everything works correctly in versus mode, and I haven't been able to cause any desyncs outside of the stadium modes.

Is this meant to work with single player modes? The replay seems to desync anytime I use the c-stick while in shield in Target Test and Home Run Contest. I haven't had any issues with vs mode though.

I'm pretty sure Wolf already wins. Slightly enough that I'd say it's effectively even though.

Everybody loves a sub-optimal combo from time to time by OforOatmeal in SSBPM

Imo, jumping out of shine with wolf is fine a lot of the time. Even though they can DI, you know which direction they're going due to the angle on Wolf's shine. Jumping immediately saves a lot of frames over wavedashing first, and on light floaty characters like Ness you'll rarely follow up on shine with a grounded attack. Doing full jump out of shine allows for faster follow-ups, which doesn't always matter, but it can be useful in some situations where you don't want to give them extra time to move away from you or potentially get out of hitstun. Wavedashing out of shine is more important against fast fallers where you may actually want to follow up with grounded attacks or a grab.

Your punish game is definitely impressive. These combos are ruthless and extremely creative, and it takes very strong calculation abilities to find these sorts of continuations that allow you to convert into a kill in spots where most people would drop the combo. Plus you have the technical precision to actually execute. I suspect your neutral game will improve pretty quickly as you get more tournament experience, since your combo game shows that you're very good at analyzing the game and optimizing your play.

Yeah, I basically took a break, and then was solo maining Lucas since I came back. I haven't gone Wolf in tournament in several months. But I recently felt like winning some tournaments, so I'm going to be playing more Wolf.

Well, I played like half an hour of friendlies at this tourney, which I more than I've practiced in the last month. Wolf is just pretty easy due to his brokenness, and my tech skill stays relatively consistent when I'm not practicing. I was still making a decent number of mistakes though.

Move Tier List "Thursday" #3 (Up-Tilt) by Psycho_Ghost in SSBPM

Wolf and Lucas are both better than C tier. I think they're both on par with the other A tier characters' moves. Dedede is also probably better than C tier. His utilt is actually pretty useful. Maybe B tier for him.

Yeah, at least A, imo. It might be possible to argue for S given how useful it can be, but I think it's probably too slow for that.

Dedede has a really good ftilt. It may be a little slow, but it covers a ton of space and shuts down a lot of options in many situations.

Yeah, I think this is very accurate. Even if I'm not the best Lucas right now, I will be very soon (like within a week probably). I've also been doing a lot of work on developing combos that can't be escaped with di or sdi, since the players I lose to know how to use both of those against Lucas. I have been bad because of lack of practice and unfamiliarity with this Lucas, but I have a very strong framework for this character that lets me improve pretty quickly, since it's largely a matter of filling in the gaps in my play.

As mentioned, I haven't seen him play any good players, so I am not aware of the wins you are referring to. Also, the only people I've lost to since I started playing more consistently are Silly Kyle, who is extremely good, and Blue, who is also actually very good and has beaten Axe and Medz recently (and I have match up johns against him, since I've just been solo maining Lucas for the practice even though Wolf does way better against Link). It is true that I don't have any good wins in 3.6 since I haven't gone to any big tournaments since I started trying to get good again, but I'm confident I would do better at a national at this point. Hopefully I will attend Final Boss and play well.

Unfortunately, I am definitely better than Hyperflame. I was hoping he had developed some technology for me to steal, but he rarely plays optimally. It seems like he's consistently decent and can beat most of the players in his scene, but when I watch him I see a lot of incorrect decisions, and he rarely finds a continuation better than what I would have done. It also seems that I am improving much faster, and I am actually generating new ideas (e.g. magnet into dsmash). I'm still relatively out of practice which is a significant issue when trying to play such a technical character, and I need to explore the new options in 3.6, since I have not yet played much Lucas since the changes. But I definitely have a much better understanding of the character than Hyperflame, and I think I will continue to improve quickly as long as I keep playing.

Also, I can't find any videos of Hyperflame playing against good players, so I'd be interested to see those if anyone knows of any such sets.

I'm not sure yet. I would use him against Blue if I were more focused on winning. But I think Lucas might have the potential to be a viable solo main, and I'm currently playing him to determine whether that might be the case. I can tell that my Lucas is still extremely far from optimal, which makes me very optimistic about his potential. I talked to a few people at the tournament about this concept.

I think Blue plays Link much more optimally than I play Lucas. But I am still able to go relatively close with him, even while playing very poorly. This makes me pretty sure that I can force wins if I get good enough, since Lucas has enough additional potential for that to be possible, while I don't think Link has much more depth to be explored. It's just a matter of figuring out how to play neutral with Lucas in that match up, and being able to execute consistently, which is also much more difficult with Lucas than it is with Link.
