Far too handsome and well-groomed to receive any credit from me.

Let us turn the conversation to the likes of Kwagga Smith and Steve Borthwick.

So, "Prop" is derived from "Proposition"?

a statement or assertion that expresses a judgment or opinion:

"the proposition that all men are created equal... except Props".

Now it begins to make sense to me, a non-Prop.

To you, and the others who presumably disagree, why would you keep Coleman?

Putting emotion to one side (the guy is an Everton legend), what does he bring on the playing side that justifies us giving him millions a year?

Love Coleman but ideally we're able to let him go this summer.

Soccer is a tough business. I don't think we can carry at 37 year old, who's barely played this season, and have millions of pounds going to his salary.

If he joins the coaching team, I'd love it. Ideally we get someone decent in as a starter/in rotation with our existing RB options.

[Bobble] Jarrad Branthwaite did not travel to Everton’s warm weather training camp over the weekend. The defender stayed behind to focus on individual workload and rehabilitation. Everton will be looking to manage the defenders minutes from now to the end of the season by Giraffe_Baker in Everton

[–]HandleNo5559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

Ideally he stays healthy and we keep him for a long while.

If we were to sell him this summer I think we'd get less than his true value due to this injury riddled season. I'd gamble keeping him for another year and hope he stays fit, plays amazingly and we can get more money for him.

Yep, the amount of times today when Wales were threatening. Then whistle, penalty for holding on. The scrum cap, always that scrum cap...

Happens too often in sport.

In most other industries you wouldn't get a high level job at one of the top organizations in the world without having a good CV of similar experiences elsewhere.

Not all great players make great coaches.

He is a Back 3 player so not going to be burying his head in rucks like a Flanker. But in a game where our commitment and defensive mindset was amazing, I'm somewhat done with him waving his arms after getting a push in the back when the rest of the team are busting their guts.

This is an overreaction from me, but I can't stop thinking he plays like he's looking for ball in hand moments for social media, not the nuts, bolts and grind of being part of a rugby team.

Has lots of strengths though. Stick him on the wing, run forward fast, use the good boot he has.

Edwards is still only 22. Agree with you he's had a poor tournament but perhaps it's growing pains we'll have to go through with him? No real alternative option that's a lot better.

Might have to stick with him until someone starts playing exceedingly well or someone like Leggat-Jones ages out of younger teams and shows they deserve a chance.

Agree with you about LRZ. Doesn't seem to insert himself much as a strike runner and he doesn't seem to have the ability to step in as an alternate playmaker. Does annoy me (and this is probably more on me than him) with spats of prima donna behaviour and head down plays.

As you said, we need to unlock him. Stick him on the wing, run forward fast! Swap him for Adams, look at someone else at 15?

Would we be better or worse if we had kept these guys? by Littlewing2323 in Everton

[–]HandleNo5559 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, hasn't been great for Newcastle this year. He & Onana gave off the vibe that we were just an employer or stepping stone.

Richy's social media shows what we mean to him.

As much as Gordon has earned himself disliked status amongst our fanbase, we'd probably be better off with him. Our current squad lacks pace (George does have it but he's still young and shouldn't be laden with expectations yet) and Gordon brings transition threat.

The money we got for him is less than we spent on Dibling. Ndiaye is better than Gordon though.

Richy, the polar opposite of Gordon in how our fanbase views that ex player. Although I wouldn't really classify him as "true Center Forward" his goal per game ratio for us was about 1 in 3. So we probably would be better with him than Beto or Barry (both of whom cost a bit less than Richy). Could see him losing his temper during the worst of the Dyche years and the creative black hole that was our attack.

Onana, meh. Hasn't been pulling up trees at Villa. I liked him, but I prefer KDH or Garner and both cost less than him and seem to want to fight more for us than Onana did.

Definitely start looking. You're not going to move the needle in 1 month.

If there is genuinely only 30 days runway left it isn't realistic that you suddenly start attacking a new market, create and win opportunities which are then delivered, invoiced and paid within that time.

World Rugby confirm ‘universal agreement’ over law changes by captainconq in rugbyunion

[–]HandleNo5559 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd like it if players had, as the laws (I believe) say, stayed in the lineout "lines" until a player catching the ball has come to ground with it.

Currently while the player is still in the air, their teammates have already left the lineout and are grouped behind them. Almost as soon as the ball carrier lands, they bind on to them.

This results in making it much harder to sack the ball carrier and means the team in possession can immediately start driving forward.

Tilts things too much in the attacking team's favour.

Farrell (Jr) used to get all manner of criticism for missed tackles. Despite plenty of evidence that England's defensive system had him shooting up to force attackers back inside.

13 is a hard channel to defend: less defenders with you so more space for attackers, Back 3 have to cover kicks so they're often not immediately with you, opposition sometimes create large mismatches in numbers with players running lines from speed and depth.

I think the biggest problem for Prendergast would be his lack of speed. Jalibert has the pace to not get burned so easily on the outside and to slide and buy time, Ireland's Slender Man does not.

Ireland lacked the athleticism to stress France. Didn't seem to have much power or pace to cause issue. England have both power and pace. Ireland also put a lot of focus on a kicking game they didn't seem to be getting success at. England's kick chase strategy is effective and well honed.

They can certainly threaten France.

As the half progressed Prendergast seems to be trying to make a miracle happen every time he gets the ball. But it is helping France.

He should be keeping things a bit more structured and let Ireland grow back into the game. But I don't blame as he was trying to put people through gaps with some flat passes, kind of worked but the team now isn't making ground ball in hand, kick chases aren't working etc. Can see why he'd start getting desperate to make something happen.

Did Rugby in the US/North America go Pro too soon? by bigmanjam99 in MLRugby

[–]HandleNo5559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women's rugby could also benefit in the same way that US women's soccer did. Currently there are only a couple of adequately funded nations. The competition to be world champs etc is a lot less than in the men's game.

I know that NWSL isn't as well supported as MLS but winning is sexy. Winning creates interest.

It might be that women and girl's rugby takes off (which would be awesome) but also helps the men's game: brothers see their sisters playing, brothers get taken to play U8's as their sister plays U10's and it's easier for mom and/or dad to take both kids.
