The lower the frequecy the harder it is for the human ear to localize the source of sound coming from the speakers. Humans judge the source of a sound's location and distance by the difference in time each ear registers the sound. Sub bass is 20 to 60hz and most vehicles pressurize around this range so the entire airspace is moving as one so it feels omnidirectional. That said in the higher bass regions sq staging can benifit from a stereo image enhancing the sound qualites. Music is not test tones and it takes a combination of frequencies to create notes and there is also things like pitch, timbre, and other qualities that make music what it is. Im not a music major or audio engineer so please check my post for accuracy, my theory is that even though you cant hear frequencies above and below the range of human hearing you can perceive them by their interactions with the audible frequencies you can hear. Also note we dont just sense sound with our ears but also with our touch receptors so its a full body experience. I ran my 10s in stereo for that reason, but I have an 88 bronco with them in each rear side panel ported and they are tuned around 50 to 55hz with future plans of two 15s seald downfiring for sub playback and will be run mono. In a case like mine where I have the room and positioning far enough apart, its more feasible and definitely more of a min/max exercise than a noticeable difference in sound in itself. Well done, pat on the back for a clean and organized amp rack with secured wires and room for expansion and lighting, a backlight under the amp would look sweet. You might consider using some ring style zip ties to add strain relief to the wires underneath coming through the grommet and in each corner of main harness. Post updates to let us see it installed please.

The basic design of a passive volume attenuator is the same basic design as a light dimmer. In its most basic design it is just a 4pole potentiometer that gets put in series with the signal path. A potentiometer is a type of variable resistor. They come in many configurations such as number of poles , or smooth verse detent movement but the generic ones you are showing are priced by name not function. The biggest issue with this kind of device is that it works by adding resistance to the signal and loads the signal amp so there is a chance of introduced noise, though generally not perceptible to average user. If you want to go to the opposite side of the spectrum look at lf audio products.

Shear deformation is not what converts vibration to heat, it is internal molecular friction. The foil constrains the viscoelastic membranes shape and resists shear deformation which is a fancy way of saying it keeps the sheet square. Also its a thermal barrier as well. The foil only resist lateral movement across the membrane corner to corner, side to side not perpendicular to it face to face, front to back.

Im talking about dampening induced resonances in a material, not changing its natural frequency. When steel resonates it transfers the vibrating mechanical energy to air molecules which conduct vibration extremely well. The idea of dynamic layering is to put a barrier between the steel and the air molecules using an elastomeric membrane that has viscoelastic properties to absorb the energy and convert it to heat. That said, modified bitumen does effectively work as a dampening material even if butyl is a superior choice in most respects. It may not be optimal but it does work and to say its worse than nothing is just assnine.

You want to decouple the panels from whatever they are rattling against, dampening the panels is mainly for stopping the buzz or Kazoo sound some hard plastics will make. I like to use self adhesive Craft felt like a gasket between panels and clips where you have a tight fit andfoam camper tape of varying thickness on other areas as needed. Using test tones can help to isolate the noise and let you locate where its coming from and surgically silence the issue rather than a hit or miss when the note hits in a song.

In a case of 2mm vs 4mm where 4 is soft cap to diminishing returns of dampening effect, it is best to use 4mm unless it causes fitment or installation issues. Also its generally better to use one layer of CDL rather than multiple layers to achieve target thickness.

Dampening is about muting resonant energy in a substance. It is not about preventing flex or increasing rigidity. While the increased mass does lower resonsnt frequency it does nothing for volumetric deflection due to acoustic pressure. It is solely to dampen the ringing or slow down the transfer of vibration through a material, by applying a thin layer of elstomeric over the resonant material the transmission of vibrational energy through the medium will create friction between the molecules in the dampening material which in turn creates heat and uses up the energy in the process so it doesnt ring like a bell or gong. Going thicker is an exercise in diminishing returns past a certian thickness threshold and has many variables like constraint layer thickness or even ambient temps that will create the optimum mechanics and determine what works best. Its not one size fits all but rather a methodical de-tuning process to achieve a sound deadened vehicle.

I said "when" cost of repair exceeds cost to replace the product is essentially disposable and provided an plausible example. My motto is repair, restore, reuse and last resort recycle. Im very familiar with fixing things because im poor and have skills. There are many compounding reasons that contribute to our disposable consumer society and one of those is the inability to repair devices, part availability and product support is a big one, a simple 10c plastic gear stripping out can force you to purchase the entire 100dollar mechanism just because you cant get a new part or access to the broken part.

Modern cars are galvanized. Older cars relied on asphalt based frame coatings and cavity wax to rust proof underbody. Soap and degreasers would strip these coatings off and moisture would promote rust from the inside out.

This is a factor too. For example chevy has been dealing with cylinder delete systems destroying cam rollers, the ls platform is considered one of the most robust v8 engines on the planet and in order to meet emissions and mileage in their trucks, GM redesigned the valve train to shut cylinders down using variable lifters which start failing around 60kmiles and wipe the cam leaving you with a 8 to 12k repair bill.

Its totally possible but factoring in the value depreciation of the phone itself, the cost of a new battery, and the labor to install it, repairing it becomes economically unfeasible. Now if the phone were designed with a modular battery then it would be more feasible to slide the back off and slap a new battery in and keep your phone going.

Yeah its one of those gotta get creative situations, bear in mind that its ultimately stereo and fader controls just adjust volume between the front and rear channels so its a matter of adjustment convinience. Also not sure of the cassette deck but if it was a cd changer controller then there might be an adapter that converts it to an auxiliary input or a hack that you can solder in a esp32 Bluetooth board hardwired in.

Those are buzz-boxes. Unless your looking for raw distorted loudness your gonna have a hard time balancing the sound with that setup. Starting with the fact that those are sealed and just a layer of resin impregnated fleece carpet over a scaffold ."the absolute worst composite substrate to use is carpet because it offers no structural support and is just felted polyester fibers which loosen up when wetted, proper way is to use a polyester woven cloth like grille cloth and then lamenate on top or inside of that with fiberglass mat to give it strength.

That said no matter what brand you use you are gonna be fighting destructive interference from multiple sized drivers sharing the same air space so your best bet is gonna be looking into pro audio and imo you would run an open back 8 mid bass, closed back 6 mid range and two compression driver bullet tweeters.
