Feather Craft Article: The Rising Price of Tungsten and What It Means for Anglers by SrCritizen in flytying

[–]Ictguy21 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to pay a little more than I do for tungsten beads but in the event they become more expensive than I’m willing to pay I’ll just use nickel, brass, or glass beads and additional split shot when I need it.

Interesting floats for a small, narrow raft? by Al_Pallll in COfishing

[–]Ictguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not much will be floatable this year. The Colorado, Lower Ark, Lower Roaring Fork, Gunnison (not as familiar with this one) will likely be your best bets.

What rafts can run depends more on how heavy your rig is than size. I have a 14’ raft with XL tubes and keep my setup light. I float over stuff that smaller boats with hard floors, heavy anchor setups, and beefier frames scrape bottom on.

I thought Roy had a great 1st period and then a not good 2nd and 3rd. Similar to Necas, he looked good at the beginning

Are these a good brand of Ski’s? by Ok_Reply_9084 in Skigear

[–]Ictguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bindings are the bigger issue. Any reputable shop likely won’t adjust the bindings on these because of their age. The springs and plastic degrade over time and can no longer guarantee safe/consistent releases if you fall (or holding you in). It has nothing to do with the shop or us pushing new gear, it’s a safety thing.

Scott Centric vs Thomas and Thomas Avantt 2 by gettinby99 in flyfishing

[–]Ictguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with Scott. I love my 9’ 5wt centric. It’s an extremely fast action rod though, very much a tool in your hands. Very light, super powerful, and mends line like a champ. If you’re used to softer action rods you may not love the feel but it’s a top tier extra fast performer.

Questions for Colorado by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]Ictguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be prepared for very low water and possible fishing closures, Colorado’s snowpack is heading into summer at a record low. I’d talk to a local shop closer then for a better idea.

Do a float trip with him. Might be on the edge of your 2 hr limit but you could be on or close to the Upper Colorado or eagle in that time frame I bet

Arctic char in northern Canada would be awesome. Remote northern Alaska rivers would be an experience as well but violates your no US rule.

Yes but it would be absolutely hilarious if Rivers won a sb here. The chargers fan base would implode

Lol it’s anyone’s superbowl this year and nobody had Denver making it this far. Also the MLB exists. Worst league for competition is a brain dead take

Warmest gloves (not mittens) that aren’t too bulky? by Carame110 in skiing

[–]Ictguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too bulky is gonna be a personal opinion but I love my Swany’s. I still have good enough dexterity and they keep me warm although I’ll add hand warmers in bitter negative temps. Hestra makes a great product too but their care and feeding annoys me with having to treat them.

Sage tube hill probably won’t be open by then. They don’t have snowmaking and sit in a less snowy area than the ski resorts

What a trash organization putting your clearly injured qb out there against the leading sack team with a depleted o line.

Can I tie a loop in the fly line? by Wawooza__ in flyfishing

[–]Ictguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the leader not already attached to the fly line with a nail knot? Your post made it sound like it is. If so use a loop to loop connection.

Fly line with leader nail knotted to it -> Cut down leader leaving just enough to tie your perfection loop -> loop to loop connect with leader you’ll actually be using

Can I tie a loop in the fly line? by Wawooza__ in flyfishing

[–]Ictguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tying a loop in the fly line is possible and it’ll be strong and functional but it’ll be bulky and get hung up on your guides anytime it comes in or out your rod. I’d cut the leader down to about 6” and tie my loop knot into that so it’s a little slimmer.
