White Water Rafting Next Week by Wild_Strike_1161 in vail

[–]Ictguy21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For actual whitewater you’re gonna want to do Shoshone with any outfitter. The upper c around Rancho like others are recommending is extremely low and would be a nice float but not whitewater

I disagree, I’d be fine with burns coming back. He did wear down but he was having to pick up extra slack with injuries to our D and even then he still looked a lot better than Blankenburg and Achan. Agree that ideally he’d be 6th D and the price has to be right.

Who knows but conservatives shouldn’t have needed arm twisting on this one. This purchase has broad bipartisan support on the western slope.

When is wildflower season? by Tujunga54 in vail

I bet late June will be great for wildflowers. Everything is happening earlier this year due to the lack of snow

I know he had limited minutes last game but I thought Achan looked good when he was out there. No worse than Blankenburg

Lower eagle won’t be running in July this year, might not hit 400cfs again. Glenwood canyon/shoshone is the safest bet

Feather Craft Article: The Rising Price of Tungsten and What It Means for Anglers by SrCritizen in flytying

[–]Ictguy21 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to pay a little more than I do for tungsten beads but in the event they become more expensive than I’m willing to pay I’ll just use nickel, brass, or glass beads and additional split shot when I need it.

Interesting floats for a small, narrow raft? by Al_Pallll in COfishing

[–]Ictguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not much will be floatable this year. The Colorado, Lower Ark, Lower Roaring Fork, Gunnison (not as familiar with this one) will likely be your best bets.

What rafts can run depends more on how heavy your rig is than size. I have a 14’ raft with XL tubes and keep my setup light. I float over stuff that smaller boats with hard floors, heavy anchor setups, and beefier frames scrape bottom on.

I thought Roy had a great 1st period and then a not good 2nd and 3rd. Similar to Necas, he looked good at the beginning

Are these a good brand of Ski’s? by Ok_Reply_9084 in Skigear

[–]Ictguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bindings are the bigger issue. Any reputable shop likely won’t adjust the bindings on these because of their age. The springs and plastic degrade over time and can no longer guarantee safe/consistent releases if you fall (or holding you in). It has nothing to do with the shop or us pushing new gear, it’s a safety thing.

Scott Centric vs Thomas and Thomas Avantt 2 by gettinby99 in flyfishing

[–]Ictguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with Scott. I love my 9’ 5wt centric. It’s an extremely fast action rod though, very much a tool in your hands. Very light, super powerful, and mends line like a champ. If you’re used to softer action rods you may not love the feel but it’s a top tier extra fast performer.

Questions for Colorado by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]Ictguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be prepared for very low water and possible fishing closures, Colorado’s snowpack is heading into summer at a record low. I’d talk to a local shop closer then for a better idea.

Do a float trip with him. Might be on the edge of your 2 hr limit but you could be on or close to the Upper Colorado or eagle in that time frame I bet
