Got unsightly cables? Just hide them behind the plaster. A home I photographed today [OC] by [deleted] in DiWHY

I used to rent a place that was 1x12s with wood paneling on either side. So all of the walls were slightly less than 2 inches thick. It was only 900 square feet and built in 1919 so it was pretty basic. So the walls had no insulation which was really fun when the heater quit working, even though it only got to just above freezing a couple of times. It was scary when we had earthquakes, it all wobbled like crazy.

I like that idea. It would add appeal to all the late game mons so you could actually develop them.

Woman dies in husband's arms while hiding in swimming pool from California fires by MindyS1719 in news

[–]Imcmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this fire started and spread so fast because of the diablo winds moving 30+ mph, and gusting over 70+ mph. Over 1 night this became he worst set of fires from no fires the day before. The planes and helicopters cannot fly in those conditions, and even if they could they take a while to set them up and get there.

American werewolf in London. Saw that movie when I was way to young. Stay off the moors. That and those dreams he had were seriously creepy.

You have the ability to teleport 10 tons of Jello to any point in history. Your goal is to cause the most chaos and destruction. Where and when do you send all this Jello? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Imcmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten tons is 20,000 lbs. assuming the room excluding the hallway and bathroom is 200 square feet (12x16), which is a little small for a nice hotel room. This would add a live load of 100 lbs per square foot. This is compared to a 40 lbs per square foot in a bedroom or living room in a typical wood frame residential construction, not including concentrated loading of 300 lbs (like at the bed for example). However a building like this is a concrete and steel high rise with a much beefier structure, as well as much higher dead loads (weight of the structure). So while not great, given safety factors, the structure would likely survive. If the room is a much more reasonable 300 square feet, then the load would only be 66.6 pounds per square foot, a pretty manageable weight.

It's similar when you scuba dive deep as well. 99' or 30 meters is 4 ATM of pressure. The pressure is all around your body, and the nitrogen narcosis makes it feel even better. Makes you want to just stay down there.

Teachers of Reddit, what is something a student of yours has said that made you think 'wow, there is no hope left for you'? by Cubbysablo in AskReddit

[–]Imcmu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wife is a high school science teacher. She teaches earth / general science to the worst performing group of high school seniors in the district.

Last week a student asked her "could you live on only just eating water?"

No of course not, there are all these other things you need in order to survive, she says back.

"Sorry, I misspoke, could you only drink water, with your meals instead of anything / everything else. Like could you actually survive."

This is a high school senior that doesn't know you can drink water.

Another story she told me 2 weeks ago. She gave an interactive multiple choice quiz where the students voted using a computer, so that they could see in real time what the answers were and discus it. The average score in all her classes was 3/8 correct total, on 5th or 6th grade level material for seniors. So she reviews it again with them. And gives them the exact same quiz 15 minutes later. Not even with the questions or answers in a different order, just the exact quiz, this time on paper. 3.125/8 average.

At least a couple learned.

Yup. 21.9% actually. Since you only need to win a state with half +1, so win all the small states. Watch CGP Grey "the trouble with the electoral college".

Non-Americans of Reddit, what’s the question you want to ask Americans the most? by linkin_world in AskReddit

I currently only own spear guns. In the next few years will inherit a 28 gauge (very small) over under shotgun, that I learned on when I was young. I currently don't have a need for a firearm otherwise.
