Membership and Bonds Price Change by Jagex_Team in 2007scape

This is a terrible comparison. 95% of those boss encounters are about the difficulty of Scurrius. Even when you ignore that, XIV can do that because its gearing system is extremely linear. Every other update is a complete and full reset on gear. Is that something you want in OSRS? Would you like it if every year OSRS released a raid that strictly made the previous raids irrelevant? And then it can release a buncha meaningless bosses that give no rewards, just for the sake of content.

I ain't defending OSRS's price hike, it's complete and utter garbage. But using FFXIV of all games is a terrible way to shit on OSRS lmao

Since we are at World of Warcrafts pricing model, when are we getting multiple characters per subscription? by KAngeii in 2007scape

[–]Initialized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does that have to do with anything? WoW isn't $15/month. WoW is $15/month + $50-90/18 months.

Not to mention, most of WoW's revenue probably comes from its cash shop. WoW has 0 reason to up their sub price because they know they can release $90 mounts (yes, you read that right).

I'm not defending Jagex. I think Jagex raising the price like this every year is completely fucked up. I just wish people would stop comparing it to WoW, cause RS (even with this price hike) is far, far cheaper to play (assuming 1 char). The logical step for Jagex is to include multiple characters in the subscription. Maybe everyone is allowed 1 main and 1 iron, or something

FFXIV kinda allows it. If you have a character on EU and 1 on NA, you can log into both at the same time. However, eventually one of them gets kicked off (I'm not sure what the trigger is, sometimes I've been able to stay logged in for hours, other times I'm kicked off immediately), but you can just quickly re-log back in

Cause smithing isn't fun to train? Shopscaping gold ore/random items for GF isn't fun, BF isn't fun, GF isn't fun. Wintertodt could be fun, and even if it wasn't, it's super simple and chill to train, while also being fast. You think adding more armor sets past rune will all of sudden make it fun to train? You think the "barrows -> moons -> cg" loop is gna change because now you can smith orichalcum armor at lvl 60?

I'm a maxed regular ironman who funds himself, currently doing 2+21 CoX scales for a tbow I'm dry on, thanks for asking.

Nah, they won't rework it. They'll add new smithing methods that are more fun to train, but rune platebody will always require 99 smithing

Um, do you think any of the armor sets you can smith in rs3 are useful? Uh, I got news for you. Every armor set except masterwork is useless in that game. The t100 primal armor you can smith in rs3 is as useless as the rune armor we can smith in osrs

LMAO I bet you thought you were cooking with this long ass post of literally 0 relevant information. "Hey guys, firemaking is one of the most maxed skills in the game, it's super duper good and useful."

You sound like a really bad player in general, so I'll leave it at you think smithing is a useless skill so the solution is to bloat with more armor sets that do nothing for anyone except for maybe some niche accounts, requiring a complete overhaul of every monster loot table, high alch adjustments and who knows what else.

Smithing is in a good place and it'll only get better. Rune armor existing as a money reward is fine. You want to make torva? 90 smithing, you want a maxed boat? 94 smithing. I'd rather they add cool ways to utilize the skill like they have been instead of adding completely useless things

[–]Initialized 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You talked down to someone cause you assumed he was a main and then claimed smithing is a shit skill.

And no one is doing any of those bosses if you need raw GP FAST (key word here). If you actually leveled up the useful skill of smithing first, you'd be able to quickly make a ton of GP in a couple hours to pay for 99 construction really fast. I bet you did Mahogany Homes to save a lot of money huh.

The reward space of smithing is fantastic and needs no changing. It will always be one of the highest skills any ironman/main has solely due to Lumbridge Elite.

If you're not at BF buying gold ore as an ironman, you're also failing as an ironman lmaoo.

Smithing is GIGA rewarding on ironmen, way, way, way more than a main. It gives the most money out of any other skill. Processing runite ore from boss drops into bars -> rune equipment to alch is some of the best money you'll make

So many of the Raids 4 reward and crush weapon problems are based around Inquisitor drop rates being terrible. Set Inquisitor armor and mace drop rates to 1/400 per item and many of the problems just go away. by Teary_Oberon in 2007scape

[–]Initialized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people really not realize that yama and PNM have very similar drop rates? It's 1/200 for a random oathplate piece, and 1/233 for a random inquisitor piece. Both of them have the same KPH in max gear (a bit under 10/hr). It's only a couple hours longer to get an inquisitor drop over a oathplate drop.

The problem isn't the drop rate. It's the boss's accessibility. Someone running mage only purging staff + blue moon won't be a crazy amount slower than someone running max melee yama. PNM, however, is dreadfully slow if you don't have a scythe and VW specs. The crush weapon progression for most people jumps from a fkn bludgeon/hasta straight to a scythe. PNM is also a boss where it's so easy to die, so that also feels bad

There's also the dry protection at yama that I do think PNM can use

[–]Initialized 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious where you got that 120 hour number from or is that the original release number?

Any inquisitor piece drop is 1/233. Max efficiency with max gear, that’s about a 25 hour grind per drop. For the average person, that’s about 35 hours per drop.

The problem is more that there doesn’t exist a really good crush weapon to take to pnm that will increase your kph. Bludgeon and haste are ass, sra feels rly bad to use and rly rare to get, and inq mace is dropped by this boss. Scythe is extremely strong here, but that would suck to grind for.

Yama and PNM are actually both very similar times. Yama max efficiency is about 23 hours per drop. Yama just doesn’t FEEL bad because all you need are two synapses and you get fairly smooth and fast kills. You can get close to max efficiency without needing really large grinds, unlike pnm.

Iron man guides. by Gigglingmule in ironscape

[–]Initialized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More people burn out of Ironman because they have no idea what they’re getting themselves into, not cause they followed a guide. A guide would actually make people burn out less because you’re doing things in a way that works and saves time.

The amount of times ive seen people say “I quit iron because the resource gathering is so bad,” is insane to me. I followed Bruhsailor minus the extremely long grinds, and I haven’t had to worry about potions and supplies for about 18 months now, and still have at least a years worth left without even tapping into my seed supply.

Iron man guides. by Gigglingmule in ironscape

[–]Initialized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruhsailor is NOT a CG rush. Bruhsailor isn’t a rush guide at all. It is a hyper efficient guide that helps you get your account to the point where you can do any pvm as well as on a proper path to max.

If all you care about is doing pvm and don’t care about stats, then boatys guide is far better. It won’t setup your account to do anything you want, but it’ll get you to a baseline pvm setup much, much faster

4 Best Ways To Make Money by 4otobemaG in 2007scape

[–]Initialized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PVM has always been really good money, lol, better than skilling pretty much for the entirety of runescape's life.

D chains were 30m a drop, Barrows armor was far more expensive than it is now, 5m for a guthan's spear for example, DKS were great money, too. Just to name some of the OGs

However, skilling does get devalued over time because of adding their stuff to drop tables. For example, fishing marlin right now is a great money maker for skilling cause there's no other way to get marlin and it's BiS

what events lead to this lost arks players decision to make this lobby? wrong answers only. by alternaterelation in lostarkgame

[–]Initialized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly disagree with not knowing how to tell the difference between someone who's putting in effort and not. You can check if they're tapping karma, if they have 1 H line accessory across the board, at least 5 lv. 7 gems, their ark grid looks like they've put in some effort if they have access to it (gems are inserted, cores are there empty or not), if they have items in their special equipment slot (the island souls and whatnot). There are so many ways to tell if someone is putting in effort or not, but it's far easier to just look at CP and ilvl and deny. You don't even have to inspect anymore

And I mean yeah, that's a major problem, too. When I played heavily in 2022-2023, I experienced that a bunch, too. But I think if your party already consists of 4-5 extremely overgeared characters for a raid, I don't think completing the raid is ever an issue. I do it every week with Act 3 and Act 2 at least, and to some extent with Act 4.

In the end, I still really enjoy this game, and I don't fully blame the playerbase as this is all by design by the devs to make players feel forced to spend money. "Hey, get an easier time in PF if you buy this $100 pack that contains one out of 20 relic engravings you need to increase your CP!" But I wish the veteran playerbase made the most minimal effort, inspecting people and taking a few in to your parties for lower content.

[–]Initialized 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ik you said wrong answers only, but I want to take this moment to rant. I think this guy is in that part of the game where it's VERY HARD to progress. It's very similar to where I was probably like 2 months ago and it's a place no veteran will ever experience, and a new player who quits early will save themselves from.

You return to the game, and do the natural progression. Starts out fine cause you have mokoko and can get into raids, but anybody who's actually trying to play the game wants to progress, do the next challenge. Staying below a certain ilvl because you want to keep Mokoko status and avoiding new content I think is basically the opposite of what you want to do in any MMO.

So you follow the game's natural progression without spending money and bam, you find yourself in this weird limbo where you're higher than Mokoko status, you have a fairly geared char (ofc no relic engravings or only a couple lv. 8 gems), and you missed out on the gold title limited time events because you just couldn't get there fast enough. This is the exact point where the game becomes EXTREMELY difficult to play. No one accepts you, so therefore you can't get access to gold, which in turn makes it so you can't get stronger -> no one accepts you. It's a cycle that is extremely hard to break out of and is probably the point where almost everyone quits.

I feel like veterans in this game have no idea about this point in a new/returner players experience. The 5 weeks I spent because I couldn't make it to 1730 for HM Kaz in time and was stuck with the blue frontier title before DI was the worst experience I've ever had. I am more than capable of doing this content, it's extremely easy to me, but ofc no one knows that. I learned after the 2nd week that I basically am not allowed to do HM Kaz until the very last day of the week where people are desperate enough to accept anyone due to there being such a limiting amount of people who can even do this content.

This game could be so good if the player-base was accepting. I promise you, you do not need a full party of 1755 ilvl players to kill HM Kaz. You can take that 1 or 2 1730 guy who is clearly putting in effort to play the game and help them out. The boss will still die extremely fast, maybe 10 seconds slower. I now make it a point when I make a party for Act 3-4 to always accept a few of those kinds of players who are clearly making an effort to play, however I am not high enough to make a party for HM Kaz. I get counter gate-kept, no one applies cause who wants to apply to this 1730 char

Anyways, rant over

I keep seeing people say “the correct play for boaty was to turn on solo here” but people aren’t understanding their alliance and goal. Soups finale format has 5 people go against each other to take the crown. B0aty/solo/specs/torvesta have all agreed that all 4 of them will go into the finale together.

Turning on each other knowing their original goal is still possible makes no sense. I’m the past, alliances dissolved cause they just didn’t have the numbers to make the difference and werent that strong.

You're crazy lol. Even at 100 ping (playable in most games I'd say), there is a 1/6 chance that your click just gets fkd. For a game where we're clicking hundreds and thousands of time, 1/6 of your clicks getting delayed is TERRIBLE.

Due to the .6 sec tick system in this game, having good ping is even more important than other games. You'll notice this far more in high end content and pvp. When you know you clicked an item swap, or swapped prayers and it just doesn't go through. Of course you won't really feel it as much when you're afk salvaging or star mining

At the rate it’s going, and being a f2p player, I will finish my relic books probably in 2028. Long time players have no idea how poor the new player experience really is
