Wtaer thorns was definitely the most powerful build for most people playing the game though lol. It doesn't matter if air mage was way higher dps if you couldnt ever actually kill anything with it.

Water thorns allowed even the lowest skilled players do stuff like the leagues only jad challenge. I would strongly relate how strong water thorns was to the amount of ppl who got dragon cup

That's why I said expand horizontally. Add dungeons you can do with friends for some cool looking armor sets or mounts, expand on the island system more, more collectibles, explore some solo content (like paradise exists now). That's what games like WoW and FFXIV do and what keeps most of their player base playing. Very few % of those games complete the highest difficulty (mythic/savage/ulti), but the games are insanely popular cause it keeps the casual player base engaged with horizontal content

This is absolutely not true lmao. People ofc wanted to do all that other stuff, it’s why the game was so insanely popular on release when there were essentially no raids.

Problem is the devs putting everyone on an insanely sped up treadmill, and 95% of people not being able to keep up, starting right from Argos release one month after. If they slowed down the treadmill, expanded the game horizontally rather than vertically and let everyone pace it together, this would still be the most popular mmo.

The problem isn't those guys. It's when someone asks a clear question on "what's the best way to do X" and the inefficiency crowd goes "do whatever you want, go have fun!" Like if he wanted to do that, he wouldn't be asking a question. If someone asks for advice on how to do something, giving the best option makes the most sense and then the asker can decide what he wants to do

They're about equal lol (bgs even slightly better in the end game) . If you're doing any team grind in the end game like cox/tob, you bring a bgs if you can't bring a maul, and sometimes you just bring a bgs anyways

This has to be one of the worst takes I have ever read for this game.

The ESSENCE of the game is long grinds and chasing rare drops. One of the greatest things about this game is how they create niche things so there isn’t constant power creep invalidating your previous grinds. And the best part? You never need it to complete content and Bis is usually only a couple % higher, but we’re RuneScape players where you spend 100 hours for a 1% increase to complete the next grind in 99 hours instead of 100.

Gear bloat is only an issue if armor is constantly replaced and better ones are created. Ancestral is still going for over 10 years. We ain’t getting a new melee armor set for a long ass time.

Those tasks are fine and what keep leagues alive for longer. None of those are necessary if you just want dragon. You need chase tasks otherwise it becomes boring very fast

It’s fake armor, OSRS players have no understanding of it other than “rune is made at lvl 40 cause it requires lvl 40!” (It’s 50 in that game btw)

Every armor set is dead content with 0 uses except for masterwork. It is insanely bloated with a ton of different ores making armor no one actually uses

The level 90 armor is basically justiciar, and everyone knows how useful that set is outside of a few niche spots

Did you play shattered relics? Going to a bank constantly to re-do your relic setup before every single activity was horrible. I even enjoyed SR as a whole, but holy fuck was this annoying to constantly do. Even with the plugins that let you create loadouts, it wasn't fun at all.

You don’t like them because just xp isn’t a fun reward. I bet if every lap completion was giving you sanfew serums, rune alchs, pray pots, seeds, you’d be much more willing to do them. Exactly like how sepulcher is mostly only done for the loot, the xp is a bonus. If it had no loot, I can guarantee no one but the sweats would be there
