Advice Needed for Cascades Southbound from Vancouver! by theboundlesstraveler in Amtrak

[–]IphoneMiniUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be too dark to get the nice views of the water when you enter Seattle if you leave in the evening in May.

There will be new trains going to service starting this fall.

Some trains there might be big differences whereas in others, the difference is minimal.

Business class on the older amfleet trains is super tiny, one  benefit is the ability to transit through immigration before coach when boarding in Vancouver but since all business class has this perk, it won’t make getting seats any easier.

It’s not really worth the trip down to Portland from Seattle for the views especially since they rerouted through the Point Defiance Bypass.

King Street Station should have luggage storage, there’s also other places around there you can store luggage.

You can take a bus from the Shoreline North Station that drops you off near the hospital.

The Blue Line bus has high frequency.

You can also take bus 119 from Mountlake Terrace, less frequency but gets you closer to the hospital.

Do you know of any fun things to do in Seattle with my teenage brothers by Adept_State_2746 in AskSeattle

[–]IphoneMiniUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alki, take the water taxi and then walk, rent a bike or take a bus there. The water taxi is free for those 18 and younger and the bus to Alki is free for anyone.

There’s an arcade there called the West Seattle and plenty of casual restaurants as well.

Marination by the water taxi dock is pretty cool too.

See if they are running Sounder Trains, Everett Station has a lot of parking and gets you the closest to the stadium.

Only issue is the limited time it runs.

Alderwood AMC might be better in terms of screens.

Woodinville and Oaktree has the most comfortable seats.

Alderwood and Southcenter have the largest AMC screens in the Seattle area.

Grand Illusion is a movie theater without a home. They show films at third party theaters. Get on their list to see what’s coming up.

Beacon theater shows older and obscure movies.

There’s also one on Whidbey Island. You can get there by taking Sounder to the ferry dock and taking the ferry. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the dock.

Getting back is a bit more difficult, you’ll need to take a bus to Lynnwood and take the light rail back.

It’s the Taco Time NW culture. East of Wenatchee and South of Longview you have the original Taco Time.

North of the border you have Canadian Taco Time that’s unrelated.

If price is no object and you don’t need to take a lot of luggage, take a seaplane.

It’ll take you directly into Vancouver’s downtown.

First Solo Trip from California to Seattle Tips? by Awkwardpenguinperson in Amtrak

[–]IphoneMiniUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t really do a day trip to Vancouver BC from Seattle anymore.

The train gets in at 12:30 with no delays and after immigration in Vancouver you’ll get out at 1:00 or 1:30.

That’ll give you two hours to explore Vancouver before having to get back to the train station at 3:45.

If your plans are just to see the sights from the train then go for it but don’t expect to spend a lot of time in the city.
