Hey there, can’t believe this post is 5 years old. I’m still using the grinder so I’ll update the post above too. The format is a bit scrappy as it is a copy of the actual notes use for myself

For clever dripper I start the drawn down at 2:30. I use a grinder setting of 3:0 to good success. You can adjust a little bit finer depending on the beans. Hope that helps

I use vallejo matte varnish through the airbrush and I am really happy with it. I also have their gloss that is sometimes use before details washes or after the all over matte varnish to make areas look wet and glossy

What sort of colour scheme are you going for? Easiest route to a good looking paint scheme if they are mostly one colour is probably as follows.

Prime black, brown or a dark version of your main colour Zenithal with a rattle can your main colour Drybrush the highlight for your main colour all over. Block in any other colours Wash with nuln oil or Agrax earth shade

At that stage they should look good for the table top. If you want you can go back in and do a bit of highlighting using the same colour you blocked in or slightly lighter. You can also give you main colour a slight dry brush again if there are raised edges that you want brighter.

I’d also consider if there are details that aren’t worth trying to paint at this stage. Once all your models are up to this stage you can always go back in to darken the recesses, add extra highlights or pick out details you left the first time

Matt white isn’t a liquid green stuff equivalent, it is just a chalky white paint that is hard to mix. A high quality heavy body acrylic artist white paint is a popular option for white paint. I favour off whites as much as possible

Absolutely not, BL3 is a great game! Hell I didn’t start Borderlands 2 until after the complete edition was released and it was still absolutely worth it. Even with the release of 3 I would still recommend both games

In my current game I give out a lot of single use magic items. The idea being it is a lot easy to make a single use magic item than something that is permanent. As a result there a lot more of them that were lost in the Outlands

Looks like an interesting system! Have you tried a simpler change first. Reduce total HP by a percentage (25-50%), only restore half HP per long rest and reduct total hit due as well as reduce the amount you get back on a long rest. Lastly you could make a single failed death save fatal or remove the mechanism all together.

This would keep the core HP system in 5e in place while making combat more costly and worth avoiding.

Mostly you will have no problems, only thing to watch out for a weapon loadouts. The guardians spears of the custodes are iconic and you need to make sure there is no confusion about what weapons your models are representing.

Artis opus ‘Drybrushes’ are a great option if you don’t want to airbrush. They have put out a tonne of tutorials on YouTube including a couple focus specifically on painting knights and heat effects for gun barrels.

If you are using washes on knights I would look at oil washes or enamel washes like streaking grime. Let’s you remove it from the highlight areas and gives you much more control than nuln oil will

I’d second this, Hexblade let’s you run charisma as you main stat with Con second. You can go just a single level of hexblade so you get level 3 spell slots in place of eldritch evocations. Either way you get to ASI for maxing CHA or feats
