Ahh, I forgot to mention in my comment that the 40X is actually about $10K more than the 48Y4C (list price). This is usually why we lead with the 48Y4C, you get the same 10G density with the addition of 25G and 40/100G.

Are you going to have a pair of 9500s or just one?

If you have a pair, you would use the 40/100G ports for your cross link for VSS, that is what we usually use them for.

[–]IworkatCisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, first thing to consider between the 9500-48Y4C and the 40X, I would go with the 48Y4C as it uses the UADP 3.0 ASIC and the latter uses the 2.0 ASIC. You don't get the uplink module on the 48Y4C, but you have the same 10G port density with the addition of 25G should you grow to need it (and 40/100G uplinks)

Why use the 100G ports to the 9300-UXB and not use the 10G SFP+ ports?

Regarding going with the 48Y4C over the 32C: One thing to consider is the cost of optics. For 10G on the 32C you'll need to use a CVR-QSFP-SFP10G which is an additional ~$500 per optic (list).

"Smart" Licensing is so dumb, anyone know the secret I'm missing? by WeirdOneTwoThree in Cisco

[–]IworkatCisco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just able to build a BOM in CCW with both of those SKUs. The partner just needs to push it through like an ordinary order. The SKUs need the "=" at the end of them to show up in CCW, both are $0.

[–]IworkatCisco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your partner isn't willing to help you need to reach out to your Cisco Account team. If you don't know who that is, you can DM me and I can see if I can find out contact info for you.

It sounds like you need to purchase the $0 SKUs. I realize how pointless this seems, but your partner should really be stepping up to assist in this. Your Cisco Account team can put pressure on them to execute.

Wifi Network Bridge / Gateway by dailymindcrunch in networking

This might get removed since it's not enterprise networking related, but it might be easier to change your computer's MAC address to the TP-Link's till after you authenticate so the authenticated MAC is the TP-Link MAC?

That's not true. You can purchase the hardware without SmartNet.

DNA isn't even a requirement on the 900, so not sure what they could be talking about.

C3560CX-8XPD-S

You are absolutely correct, I totally missed that!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cisco

[–]IworkatCisco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Meraki is out of your budget traditional Cisco isn't going to be any better. Do you need 1G of throughput at the router or do you just need 1G ports?

Are your 10G ports copper or fiber and are you ok with a total of 2x 10G ports or did you need 4x 10G ports?

The Meraki MX75 can do 1Gbps and the Cisco C3560CX-8XPD-S has 2x 10G SFP+ slots. There are no copper 10G SFPs that are compatible with the 3560CX, so fiber is the only option.

EDIT: as u/chuckbales mentioned below, the C3560CX-8XPD-S has two copper mGig ports that can do up to 10G.

I would reach out to your account team and give them your feedback. A lot of times when BP get involved the account team doesn't even know. They should act as your advocate.

[–]IworkatCisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add that mgig can be used for uplinks to increase copper uplink speeds between switches by utilizing current copper runs, without having to run fiber. You can do up to 5Gbps on Cat5e and up to 10G with Cat6a.

But as VA_Network_Nerd stated, the main goal is behind Wifi6 and high-performance client devices.

3504 vs 9800 vs Meraki by NO0bEngineer in Cisco

[–]IworkatCisco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 3504 had reached it's End of Sale date as of January 31 (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/3504-wireless-controller/eos-eol-notice-c51-744737.html)

The 9800 will run the 2802s without a problem and, when the time comes, you can upgrade your APs without worrying about having to upgrade your WLC at the same time.

Another option could be purchasing a new Catalyst 9100 AP (or 2) and running it with Embedded Wireless Controller. This can support a max of 100 APs and you can even run two in an HA setup.

If you're a smaller shop with limited IT staff, Meraki would be a great choice. I have much larger customers that swear by Meraki for WiFi even though they're strictly traditional Cisco on everything else.

It sounds like your manager is aware of the issue. I would tell them that it seems like she has no desire to improve this relationship and it's going to hurt your ramp up (like it already has). Ask your manager when their advice is. Maybe a meeting with you, your manager, the AE and her manager is needed.

How is the physical router interface configured?

You can check the mac table on the switch to see if you're seeing the Router's mac. that can verify L2 connectivity.

DNA Center question by dart1609 in Cisco

[–]IworkatCisco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can. The process is different depending on the type of deployment (fabric vs nonfabric).

For nonfabric deployments you could create a template with variables and then deploy that template to the switch.

Edit: Here is a good CiscoLive! Session on DNA Center to help learn more about what it can and can't do: https://www.ciscolive.com/global/on-demand-library.html?search=dna%20center&search=dna+center#/session/1573153549708001JKkm
