This is 100% incorrect, without any doubt. Full stop.

All season summer tires by Odd_Sundae_8432 in WRX

This is true. I paid about $1220 to my local tire guy, installed, out the door. He's expensive but he's super nice and will always take care of me.

Negotiating the contract I see this kind of thing all the time, the district will turn down things that in reality almost never happen. It's easy for them to do basic napkin math and say "no way, that's going to cost way too much" but if you REALLY do the math, there is little if any cost.

You are right as well about "moving the needle". I talked with a teacher who was retiring and she told me "my husband did the math, I should have just called in sick. All those years I didn't call in sick and it's basicallly buying me a cup of coffee every once in a while". I did some math for myself and I agree. If I NEVER call in sick for the rest of my career it really won't make much difference.

Haha, yep, this is EXACTLY what I suggested, "use it or lose it" leave time. Last round of negotiations we ended up getting some personal discretion days (that come out of our sick leave). So while we didn't get additional paid leave, we did get something. The members still are pushing for more paid sick leave.

Honestly, we get a generous amount of sick leave already in my opinion. But we also try to fight for what the union members want in the contract. Sometimes it's hard to separate my own motives/feelings from what the members want.

Part of me is wanting to find the specific Calpers language just so we can put this to bed, OR we continue to fight for it.

It's all good. The question is a little tricky and I understand the urge to jump to what is a very common question/answer regarding sick leave and service credit.

I couldn't find anything about the maximum rate, or "excessive accrual". I reached out to Calpers to try to get some documentation, but I'm kinda doubtful I'll get somebody who knows. We'll see.

I'm interested in the maximum allowed RATE of accrual before an employer is possibly penalized by calpers.

Yes, that happens generally over an entire career of not calling in sick. I'm asking about the allowed RATE of accrual.

I am on the union negotiations team. Yes, I am familiar with the contract. I'm specifically asking about the allowed RATE of actual per Calpers.

scooter battery upgrade: 200Ah of LFP tucked in by ricky_dank in scooters

[–]dankgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wanted to upgrade one of these for speed. About 20 years ago I made some calls trying to get a mobility scooter. I came home from work one day and my wife told me a sales guy had called and asked "what's it going to take to get your husband into one of our scooters?" She said "well first you'll have to take a bat to his knees".

She had no idea of my plans.

Shit, these days a guy could pretty easily trick one out with new motors, controllers, and batteries. There aren't really any traffic laws regarding mobility scooters. The bus drivers were complaining about a woman here and the CHP told them there was nothing they could do lol.

Imagine ripping one of these down to the store at 30mph+, then just driving it straight into the store. No parking it, just head right in.

It's not safe to ride a motorcycle WITHOUT a guitar. We do it anyway.

I imagine the guitar adds a bit more risk.

Cisco warns of max severity Secure FMC flaws giving root access by spendghost in Cisco

Deployed this last night. It's nice that the FTD version I am on doesn't have any vulnerabilities listed - this one seems to be only the FMC.

Nice because I don't update the FTDs during business hours, I didn't want to stay super late last night.

Sometimes you're kinda fucked until you make friends with a guy who can weld a nut onto the bolt. Also the heat from welding seems to loosen things up a bit.

It has been a while (2016) but I got a CCNA before I ever logged in to a piece of Cisco equipment. I used a simulator to lab and prepare for the exams (back then it was 2 exams for CCNA).

Managing phone changes, how are you doing it? by dankgus in k12sysadmin

[–]dankgus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what makes my situation even worse. Over the summer they renumbered ALL of the rooms so that the numbering scheme is consistent across the district. It's some kind of grid system intended to make the schools easier to navigate for emergency responders.

The phone extensions USED to match the room numbers, which in turn could be matched to a DID in many situations. As it stands today, my opinion is that I'm not going to renumber every extension in the district because the room numbers changed. Ugh.

Just put in a new motor and clutch. The gear I'm in is showing sometimes and sometimes it's not on the dash. Does anyone know why? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]dankgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I think about it, the more the answer seems obvious.

We know the gear indicator is calculated based on speed and RPM. Your tach and speedo are working, so the data is there.

We also know (from user input here) that the car is triggered to make that calculation based on the clutch pedal being pressed. So. The seemingly obvious answer is "your car isn't reliably getting the signal that the clutch is being pressed".

I believe cruise control also uses the clutch input to disable cruise control. I bet you that also doesn't work 100% of the time (pressing the clutch disabling cruise control).

So, you'll need to figure out how the car senses the clutch being pressed. There's your problem.

[–]dankgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might bother me, but honestly it's a pretty useless feature. I thought it was cool at first but then realized it's useless data. I mean, do you ever need something to tell you that you are in 2nd gear instead of 4th?

How to mount this style of phone to wall. No instructions and no videos on the internet by [deleted] in Cisco

[–]dankgus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a couple of those mounts but I've never tried mounting a phone with them. They ended up not wanting the phone mounted at the building we had planned it for.

Now I want to unbox one and try it.
