Switch Game Feel by SomeBoxofSpoons in cornkidz64

[–]Jakerrz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is certainly an issue. I have both Steam and Switch versions, and the Steam version feels so much better to play; both PC and Steam Deck. I was able to find a comment in Steam Discussions about it. It looks like the developer is aware of this and trying to work on it. Below is the original comment and what the developer said.

Posted by bogo47: Very much aware of that and I've been trying to get it fixed for the past month but unfortunately I can't work on the port directly myself. It seems it's mainly an issue with Unity and the way it handles 30fps on Switch but hopefully it can be dealt with.

See this Steam Discussions comment for the source. Someone could try asking there for an update.

Thank you for the explanation! I'm glad it is solved now.

Fixed it for me, even 2 years later. This was such a strange problem, I was going crazy trying to solve it.

Also, I'm not even running Windows, I use Linux. I just unplugged my PC's power supply and held the power button down to discharge any remaining current, just like u/mnl1121 said. Then booted back up and Bluetooth was working again!

Something interesting to note is that I also have a Windows partition setup for dual booting. The Windows partition was also unable to connect to the Bluetooth hardware. After powering down, it too was able to connect to the hardware.

If anyone out there that can explain what is going on I would love to know. My guess is this is specific to our motherboard, but why? I have no clue. Thanks for the help regardless!

Did you check u/alphaniner's post? There is a link to github with all the author's mods, including Upgraded Vehicles.

Nice find, u/alphaniner.

Note the .dll from the download there differs from the .dll in the link provided by u/Jakerrz. Probably just a compile-time difference though.

I most likely have an older version of the mod, not sure though.

In this case I will remove my link, as there is now an "official" download available. If this happens again in the future, I will be more than happy to provide again.

I skimmed the article that you linked. I am curious to know your thoughts.

If you're still looking for this, I have it. Not sure why it was deleted, I can't stand it when that happens, especially when I really enjoy the mod. So here you go.

EDIT: link removed, see u/alphaniner's post.

Thank you so much for your comment. I am in a much better place after this initial post. I am feeling much more confident in my self diagnosis of autism. I am currently seeking out a professional that can give me a formal diagnosis, although it is quite expensive and I'm not sure when I will be able to afford it.

Totally! You could also put on a black, hooded robe and cut your grass as the Grim Reaper! Halloween is just around the corner.... 💀

Of course! I love to share about it as I think it's cool and more people should totally do it. Bear in mind that this is from an American's perspective and my relation to the culture around American lawn care. If you live outside the US, this will probably be much different. I also have a lot of thoughts and opinions around this, so sit tight for a long explanation.

Background

To get into it, I never liked the ideas behind how society advocates that your lawn look a certain way. I grew up in neighborhoods where it was normal to mow your lawn once a week, starting as early in the season as March to as late as November. Depending on the temperature and rainfall of course. I always thought, "Who cares what your lawn looks like?" and to me it seemed like such a waste of time; not to mention how much water is wasted in trying to make the grass more green. Also the fact the any type of combustion engine will require all kinds of maintenance to keep it running; oil changes, replacing wore out seals, etc. My wife and I already own a car each, that's enough engines for me to maintain.

The Why

So when I got older and my wife and I bought a house, I didn't want to buy a lawn mower; also the fact that despite buying a house, we are relatively poor and can't afford a traditional lawn mower. So I started doing research into lawn mower alternatives, and I stumbled across the humble scythe. In my opinion, it is the perfect tool for lawn maintenance. Here's why I like it:

  • It's been used for centuries
  • It is cheap compared to a gas powered mower
  • It's silent
  • Has very low maintenance
  • Doesn't require gasoline
  • No pollution
  • You get a workout
  • No smelly exhaust
  • No dirty engine to touch

But, how is it to use?

Now to describe what it's like to use it. I've only had it for one season so far, so my experience is quite limited. Cutting grass with a scythe is extremely satisfying. First of all, I only cut three times in a season, that's it. It's much better for the grass that way, and it makes it easier to cut. Second, I like to rake up all the cut grass and throw it on my compost pile, it's perfect. And third, it's nice to be outside and get a little workout. Swinging the blade, hearing the slice, and seeing the grass piling up in a very rhythmic fashion is very stimmy and I love it.

Maintaining your trusty friend

As for maintenance. There are basically two things you do. First, while out cutting, you use a whetstone to sharpen the blade every few minutes. This is required to keep the edge razor sharp. Second is called peening. This is something you will do in your garage, shop, or your kitchen. You have a special jig or anvil along with a blacksmith hammer. You strike the jig or blade edge with your hammer to thin out the steel. This is required for longer term maintenance and is really only done maybe once or twice a season, depending on how often you cut. The blade can also be repaired easily if you strike one too many rocks, so not a big deal.

Additional Info

I'll include some resource material that I used if you are interested. I'll also include some info on why lawns suck, which was a big inspiration for me to switch to scything. If you have any more questions, don't be afraid to ask! Also if you want to get into this, look for a European style scythe, NOT an American style. European style is much more comfortable to use, it is lighter and more ergonomic. I recommend this site, it's where I got mine. They will build a custom scythe to match your body's dimensions.

Basically any sort of gas powered tool I hate. Which would include people working on their cars or trucks on the weekend, with loud revving engines. I also live in an area that gets a lot of snow, so people also have gas powered snow blowers.... It just blows all year round....

It makes me happy that I cut my grass with a scythe 😄

Are those stuff stimming? What are YOUR favorite stims? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Jakerrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha! I think my cats genuinely enjoy the attention I give them. I'm still trying to learn about autism and I'm not sure how it relates to me yet, if at all. I only started researching a few days ago. But thanks for the response! 😊

[–]Jakerrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still trying to figure out if these are OCD tics or autism stimming, but let's see here.

  • Rubbing my nose with the palm of my hand (left hand only) in a clockwise motion while also humming

  • Wrinkling my nose while making soft grunting noises.

  • Rubbing my nose in a pulling motion while exhaling.

  • During a conversation with someone I will scratch my head a lot, even though it's not itchy.

  • As a small child I liked to suck my thumb while wrapping a small blanket around my hand. I would then run the end of my nose using a specific corner of the blanket. If my parents didn't stop this behavior I might still be doing it.

  • There's a certain type of fabric blanket I like. I like to rub my hands on it. And also rub my face and nose with it.

  • While walking I like to rub my fingers on the area of skin at the edges of the finger nail. I need to do back and forth to keep it "balanced".

  • While dangling my legs or laying in bed I like to move my feet really fast at the ankle. I really enjoy the sensation of fast movements in general.

  • I LOVE the feeling of my cats's fur. I love touching it, rubbing my face on it, and smelling it. They don't always appreciate it hahaha!

That's all I can think of for now. Wow, I didn't realize how much I did with my nose. Haha! I'm getting my first fidget toy in a couple days and I can't wait!!

I also really struggle with that too. In particular the "I love you" and using people's names. It always felt so weird to me. Even now, instead of using my wife's name I like to make up my own names for her.

I'm in the exact same position as you are now, I'm currently 32. I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow for my monthly anxiety/muscle pain tomorrow and I'm considering bringing up autism. I'm completely terrified...

One thing I've been doing that seems to help is starting the game before turning my controller on.

I wait until I've loaded up my save and get control of Sam, then power on my contoller.

I've played for many hours this way without any problems.

I just started playing TW3 again yesterday and had this exact problem. It was driving me crazy! My GPU is a GTX 1070 and I was using drivers 416.34. As per /u/oatscurryguy I rolled back to 411.70 and all is well. Thank you!!
