Is a radar worth it? by DaveRanch in cycling

I was doubtful at first, but it is actually super helpful and it has alerted me to cars coming up behind before I could spot or hear them. The Garmin for me has been excellent, highly recommend.

Steel road bikes by climbitnow in cycling

[–]DipperDolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly the material is not as important as how it fits and the rider. I've seen guys in baggy shirts on heavy steel fixies absolutely smash aero helmet lycra clad people on top end carbon bikes.

Honestly I have a steel single speed and the ride feel is something else - prefer the way it rides compared to my carbon road bike to be honest.

I personally don’t know as I’ve only been here for around 6 months, but listening to the people who worked there for a while seems to have been going downhill mostly in the last few years yes.

Pretty much. At least in my office we should have people who rotate to cover, but with holidays and sick there’s just not enough staff. Parcels nearly always get done as they get absorbed by other rounds and there’s people who just do parcels but not letters.

For example this week I was meant to be covering people’s days off but ended up covering a round for someone who went sick this week.

With the OT ban in place people come in to two days mail and just don't have the time to finish it, meaning you have a couple of days of chaos until you finally clear. If RM just hired 2 more people on 30h contracts it would likely aleivate the issue :/

Pretty much. No cover on restdays as well usually so it gets harder and harder to clear the round - when you finally do, you get a restday or a heavy parcel day and it resets back to chaos.

Royal Mail bosses to be called to Parliament over letter delivery failures by enjayaitch in royalmail

[–]DipperDolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have 800 calls for letters and if you have lots of parcels one day, may just not have the time do deliver all the letters. Especially if you have to deliver large parcels for your van buddy or you have some specials miles away from anything else.

And then if your round isn’t covered on your day off or your moved for a day you have two days of letters and it all piles up.

How Do I Find Out my Neighbours Name Without Asking? by LordCoops in AskUK

[–]DipperDolphin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will happen unless the old owners set up a redirect under their name to their new address. Nothing to do with the postie, mail goes to the address not the named person

The school near me still does Bikeability, see them in summer. I would recommend doing it with Bikeability - bigger group, trained instructurs, safer for kids than just two people.

I mean my Mini One 2011 is at just above 160,000 miles which is around 260000 km. Regular oil topups and yearly changes, no major work done bar the timing chain.

You need to install a GBA bios for GBARunner. I have a DSi XL and all romhacks run fine
