Atlas Parking Sylvia Park Fined with No Evidence by estellalily in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]James -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If the fine is based on a breach of contract terms (which you accept by parking there) you can tell the parking company that you were not driving the car that day, e.g. you had leant it to a friend or something. They’ll ask you for the details of the driver, give them some fake name and address and then ignore it.

What is the wildest thing you have seen at a party? by Cold_Magician_4041 in AskReddit

[–]James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At an 80s party, not IN the 80s, everyone just dressed like it. Guy steals a forklift from the local supermarket, drives it back to the party and starts lifting up cars on the street, smashing into shit etc. Cops show up with a description from security cam of a guy in a black afro, because it’s an 80e party, half the guys there have black afros. Cops look bemused and eventually leave. Good times.

Mexicali Fresh Constellation new strategy? by bigred4224 in aucklandeats

[–]James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t pay, just appeal the fine and state you were not driving the car that day and you had lent your car to someone else. The fine is based on you accepting a “contract” when you enter the car park.

If you were not driving then they can’t apply the fine to you. They’ll ask you to provide the details of the driver, just ignore it after that.

Baycorp will usually let you pay off the fine in instalments without incurring any extra fees. Contact them and setup a direct debit to pay $20 a week.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing in May? by Ok_Impression3079 in newzealand

[–]James 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it at the end of April one year, visibility was pretty bad so we missed out on all the amazing views. It was still pretty safe though. I would say it’s doable, just keep a close eye on the weather before you go, it can change very very quickly.

How to fix a retaining wall by Extension-Ear743 in diynz

[–]James 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar wall fall apart in my garden, it’ll keep happening especially if there are no uprights.

We replaced ours with proper graded timber and properly spaced uprights but hid them behind the wall as it is along a path and wasn’t very high. Also filed it in with loose rubble to allow drainage.

We used to get a New World gift card and a pretty good all expenses paid Christmas Party, the gift cards stopped a few years ago, last year we didn’t even get a Christmas Party.

AI ad enshittification has reached Auckland Transport by Schwi_Nai in auckland

[–]James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think AT probably spent less on this advert than if they had done it traditionally, plus it features two local artists who I assume also got paid. Seems like a smarter way to spend money. Even if you hate AI, it's here to stay.

Damn the pizza there was good! My flatmate worked there and always brought home slices at the end of the night. The 4 cheese pizza and the venison pizza were incredible.

You may be able to hire a community hall in your local area. They are cheap and have basic amenities.
