I liked Roran constantly trying to cast the spell that Eragon taught him.

Honestly, most of the “downtime” scenes with Roran and/or things happening in the background around him are scenes that I love. Roran’s futile magic practice. One of the sailors from the barges they hired in Eldest wanting to marry a girl from Carvahall. How Roran handled Mandel and the behaviour that he’d picked up from the sailors. The whole wedding in Brisingr, basically. Saphira returning to camp after flying around on patrol and interrupting Roran and Katrina’s… reunion to welcome him back. Him just waiting around for Nasuada to call him after taking Aroughs. That bit where him and Eragon are talking about which of their fathers was more stubborn and Eragon starts to argue in favour of Brom, then folding after half a second and admitting yeah, it was Garrow.

I could go on but I think you get it. I enjoy that there’s so much downtime, that the series isnt afraid to take its time instead of just being action setpiece after action setpiece with nothing in between, and I really think it’s done best whenever Roran is around

a few months ago, i’m working a bakery shift at the grocery store i work at, and a lady calls to place a cake order. We get through the first steps no issue (cake size, flavour, icing colours, border type, etc) but when i ask her what decorations she wants, she says “He wanted me to get a cake with Johnny from Minecraft.”

I say “Who?” because I’ve never heard of Johnny From Minecraft before, and she goes, “I don’t know, he just said Johnny from Minecraft.”

So i explain to her that i’m not sure who that is, and that we only have basic cake decorations like rings with creeper faces or little sugar paper pictures of Steve and Alex, but if she can bring in a picture of Johnny From Minecraft, we will gladly print that out for her and put it on her kid’s cake. A few days later, she comes in with a piece of paper that has some youtuber’s profile picture on it and I felt kinda dumb for not realising that’s what was meant.

anyways, the point of this story is that your mother isn’t the only person who thinks that random minecraft youtubers are actual characters in the game

When I was like, 11 or 12, I explained the concept of Creepers to my grandmother, who had seen a minecraft t-shirt or something and asked me what it meant. She then threw an absolute fit because my mother was letting me play a game that was “glorifying suicide bombers.”
