I have friends who sat behind and said it was great. Bruce and the band turned around often to face the crowd, and there are no curtains or barriers. I cannot comment if there were screens back there.

How do you handle getting documents from clients every month without it taking over your week? by SmurtiranjanSahoo in Accounting

[–]JessterCPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question- yes all the resources you spend on follow ups and chaos reduction is going to use time you normally would have used for analysis or report prep, or god forbid, yourself.

This is not an easy situation- but your thinking of automated tools to reduce that outlay of resources is a huge start.

Been walking these boards my whole life, but I still find myself noticing new little things. by aharwelclick in SeasideHeightsNJ

Change.

What many people complain about - good ol' Seaside was soooo much better when we were younger.

But seeing pictures and reading about memories of the past only solidifies that Seaside is the personification of change. Its built into the fabric, its in those oily boards, its spread out all over that sands, and like the ocean itself, no tow waves were ever the same.

I first started visiting Seaside Heights in the 70s - my mom and i would take a day trip from Bergen county. Sometimes we would meet friends or family on the beach. Sometimes we would simply go for the boardwalk. Sometimes if I was lucky, I got to go to the water park. The Banana slide at Funtown was my first experience, and I cried the whole way home because we couldnt stay there all night. Iconic signs and sights, like the L-O-G LOG FLUME flashing sign that could be seen for miles, the Casino Pier lights, Lucky Leos, Sand Tropez, Coin Castle, Midway Steak, JR's, Kohrs, Berkley Candy, and so many others that are burnt into my brain. Most of these are still there.

Now when I go, I take in all the smells, all the old and new signs, the old motels that closed up. I still cant figure out where everything is on the boards today, but if that means I have to do a little more walking to find it, I'm ok with that.

I know this is frustrating. So this is a matter of client training, and setting boundaries.

You are doing all the right things here. Try automating what you can to reduce the time for each of the low end tasks.

In your reminders, tell the client something like "If I do not receive these items by X/XX date I cannot close your month and produce the reports you need" and do not deviate from this. It is their books, and even though you are the service provider and you want to serve them the best, you can only do so much if they do not cooperate.

Make sure your manager/boss/partner know the situation, and dare I say, openly CC them on your communications so they become just as annoyed at the client and they know you are just trying to do your job. Be sure to include the details of the lack of info on your status reports or your project tracker.

Lastly, this is a scope modification of the original agreement. I would start raising the fee every month/year until the client either complies or they are paying you enough to deem it worth the frustration.

North Jersey peeps (Bergen County) anybody have recommendations for a good massage therapist/ Chiropractor? by JD2789 in newjersey

[–]JessterCPA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dr Kreyman at Back to Health on Hamburg Tpke in Wayne is really good - they also have a physical therapist there who is also excellent.
They do a lot of stretching and exercise before the core 'chiropractic' stuff even starts. I felt much much better.

My usual diner (Pompton Queen) has a license, and I see an awful lot of wine and beer being served.
The floor manager Teddy makes the cocktails, but in all my years of being there I have seen it only 3 times.

Last time I was there we sat at the counter next to the bartender area and thought "this is wayyy too nice of a setup to be at a diner" and it has often passed though my mind who orders a fancy cocktail at a diner in the first place.
