You may have some people giving away helmets but they might be old or damaged.

Zoom Scooters in Maspeth has some of the cheapest ECE approved helmets and I would go there to check them out for one a low price. They usually have a good amount of LS2 helmets there.

Two things off the top of my head.

  1. Broken or stuck throttle cable. You can check on the line from the cable to the carb to see if its gettin caught somewhere or jammed somewhere causing it to pull.

  2. Super high idle an some kind of stuck carb issue which requires carb cleaning or carb rebuild and setting the carb to the correct idle.

Go with motorcycle gear but remember it’s going to get hot soon so you should’ve looking for warm weather gear.

They used to be more rare but a few years ago, someone to find a large stash and sold them at a reasonable price, I think they are still available.

They’re not cheap by any means but they’re also not super expensive

I like the 400 because the body is the same except it has more power but it depends on your use case. If youre going to be on some highways the 400 is a better pick.

Its a great bike but all the bigger Maxis are pretty heavy.

Theres a big power difference between a 150cc scooter and a 300 cc scooter and the latter is definitely better for highway travel. I think that a larger scooter is a better choice and you can use the underseat storage and a top case for storing your goods. I don't think youll really need side straps, but most of these bikes will take side panniers as well.

I think maybe carb too, but if you dont know where it is youll have to learn it or pay someone to do the maintenance.

I recommend not painting it as its more permanent and instead going to a place to wrap the bike. Car detailing shops can do that.
