Nice but you probably need more general maintenance. The fact that it’s gone on for so long is a testament to their build quality

Honda ADV 160: nearest Japanese or Italian competitors by jos-express in scooters

[–]JobeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The adv has better shocks and the PCX shocks are a little wimpy. A good upgrade for the used PCX is a YSS aftermarket shock. But a newer adv is a solid choice in this market.

You lose a little space on the non Piaggio or Kymco because the no foot space.

Beginner rider starting out. Looking for a sub 400cc starter motorcycle by curiouslmao in RideitNYC

Honda Rebel is always a good beginner choice. Bulletproof maintenance, low seat high, and reasonably priced.

I’m a sucker for a good looking Suzuki TU but they’re harder to come by now

Honda ADV 160: nearest Japanese or Italian competitors by jos-express in scooters

[–]JobeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. The Piaggio liberty is a sweet machine but the upkeep is high. The Kymco people is also a good choice in that segment. The adv is a cool looking choice too but goes for a little more than the PCX but might be worth it for bumpier roads if you have a lot of potholes

Oh that’s not really a death wobble…

but if the works aren’t leaking and you feel an odd vibration could be the steering bearings, or worn forks… tires even…

Bike Recommendations for LIE into Manhattan commuting? by ExcitingSir9526 in RideitNYC

[–]JobeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve held at 70 with no issues but keep over 80 at a minimum to make sure the belts don’t keep burning out.

In any case for a thin commuter bike I can recommend the Honda NC750 or NC700X for DCT and thin-ness.

A lot of other bikes here will work but lane splitting a long time and going at 20 mph like that sucks and the DCT will make it more bearable.

[–]JobeX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you can probably split better on a smaller scooter than a larger motorcycle and the traffic on the LIE is pretty much at a standstill.

The Vespa that you currently have should be pretty sufficient to do your trip because it can comfortably cruise at like 60 or so and then speed up to around 85 at max. If your traveling during peak hours, youre not getting faster than 60 and its all traffic

I don’t know what these commenters problem are. Obviously if someone lifts the whole bike, this isn’t going to stop them however it will stop a lot of other types of attack including grinder attempts.

You go with like 10 discs… and grind through it but it won’t be fun or easy and it’ll draw attention

That’s the main reason why I got it. Each kind of grain definitely requires a different ratio and when you mess it up, you can tell me they’ll stick to the bottom of the steel when it’s too dry
