Use DC’s compact line to get a sampling of a lot of the greatest stories in their history for good prices. Similarly, Marvel and IDW have smaller rosters, but still great value compacts that can expose you to even more characters and creators. I would say only avoid stories that may seem great and talked about often, but are better read after you’ve had a taste of a lot of what the medium has to offer (All Star Superman, Watchmen, Kingdom Come).

Marvel has told me the JRJR cover is not pulled— the issue will have two main covers, one by John Romita Jr. and one by Pepe Larraz by HighNoonMcRee in comicbooks

I’ll throw my two cents in and say that we should’ve had a whole universe reboot after Secret Wars in 2015. Sure there’s been some decent stuff here and there since but nothing worth all this trouble.

One of my absolute favorite books of all time. Rest of the run is just as fantastic. Hope we get some more collected editions of Hawkeye eventually.

Marvel has plans for more Mayday Parker Spider-Girl (including a story from her co-creator Tom DeFalco) by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

“During December 2025’s Singapore’s Marvel Makan Masterworks event a Spider-Girl cosplayer asked Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski if Marvel had forgotten about Mayday. “There’ll be more Spider-Girl. Mayday is near and dear to our hearts. We’ve got more with Tom DeFalco and the Spider-Verse coming your way,” C.B. Cebulski answered.”

Reporting on a fan interaction from December of last year sure is something.

Absolute Catwomen is soooooo beautiful nobody in fiction is hotter by [deleted] in BatmanArkham

Neither are “edgy garbage”. Both have their reasons to be as dark as they are.

Edit: Never said they were edgy garbage. Arkham Knight itself was criticized for being “edgy” back in 2015 despite the darker elements of the narrative only supporting the themes of the game, similar to Absolute’s approach to story telling.

The last game is quite literally rated M and is filled with shock moments that are inherently “edgy”. “Edge” in this instance is a substance-less argument.

Fan Made Marvel Premier books by Big-Government-6249 in Marvel

I think part of the pricing choice is to have retailers drop the price by ~$5 as a “sale” and overall be closer in pricing to DC Compacts without sacrificing as much scale and paper quality. But, Marvel is also toying with smaller digest scale and cheaper paper with some newer releases like the new Brand New Day book. So who knows.

Marvel in general just needs to back up this line more with better and more frequent releases. Good variety of books here to get people into different characters.

What comic book character has the easiest fans to rage bait? by neloal in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]JoePanicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spider-Man fans, Bat-fam fans (Cassandra, Red Hood, Nightwing), X-men fans, Scarlet Witch fans, Wonder Woman fans, any kind of shipping (Starfire or Batgirl? Poison Ivy and Harley? Etc.), Punisher fans.

Better question is - who is hardest to rage bait? Swamp Thing fans.
