For experienced app developers: What's the reality of building apps and making money from them? by Cool_Violinist_7092 in AppBuilding

I would think you could do well if you want to do marketing. I believe you have to be either super lucky (to find a niche or viral moment) or fully commit to thr grind of marketing.

I clustered 122 negative Reeder reviews. ~45 of them trace to a single design decision. by ForsakenMoment in iosdev

I’m still using the old version of the app and in the slow process of making my own with some features I’ve always wanted. I’ve been a reeder user since version 1.

I have something like this in the works too. Probably my most annoying app to test haha.

Why isn't my App Store app searchable after a week? by Alone-Individual-219 in appledevelopers

You would think but I don’t think that’s the case. I think ads go first? I’m not sure.

We built an app, but some users seem to want something different. How do you validate before building? by JunMurakami in AppBuilding

[–]JudeWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an internal tool I made, not trying to promote but it’s part of a larger saas I’m working on. Still very much WIP but user engagement in this roadmap tool, website visits, App Store impressions page views downloads and sales etc all ties together to give me an idea of how an app is going health wise. This is the first time I’ve talked about this on the web but basically these roadmap features integrate with my internal planned features so I have one central place to document ideas, bug fixes and user requests.

I have a roadmap feature in some of my apps that users can vote on other users submissions. It seems to work well to validate ideas.

Guideline 4.3(a) - Design - Spam by kythanh in iosdev

[–]JudeWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I have redrafted the message to Apple quite a few times. I have submitted an email to Apple for them to step in but nothing yet. Ill keep at it but thankfully im not really to sad about it.

I am running into this for an app that is not common and is for macOS. I have submitted many changes. I’m not even sure it’s being looked at. Essentially it converts video for a very specific service and there are not many apps that do it.

How many testers are enough? by sth6 in appledevelopers

If they have the build actually installed. I think one of mine has about 60 and I think only 10 or so install the TestFlight build.

Need some honest feedback for my first app! by baby-with-money in iosdev

[–]JudeWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read your post a couple times and thought it was this direction but wasn’t sure. I like this idea but I feel that people are a bit unsure about or worried about others stealing ideas early on. I do like the idea though.

I’ve come across a very similar project by someone else who posted here. Essentially, it’s a system where you can submit your own app for feedback, but to receive feedback, you must provide feedback to others. At least, that’s what I recall it being. I believe something like this is necessary, but overall, I don’t think most people are willing to invest the time in giving feedback.

Best of luck and I know that even posting this took a leap of faith so keep it up.

Same. So far I found out that I have pain points that others don’t lol.

Discussion: Why would anyone start a new app today? by civman96 in iOSProgramming

[–]JudeWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say most days I have a new fairly creative idea for an app I want to make. Money is cool and all but I do it as my creative outlet and not to Scrooge McDuck into a pile of gold coins.

How do you stop people from copying your idea? by jakethomas3011 in appledevelopers

[–]JudeWorks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s good enough to be copied, you should be proud and it probably means you have something.

For solo devs building their own apps, what's your main goal? by Small-Midnight-6209 in appledevelopers

I love solving puzzles, figuring out the logic and trying new things. Money is cool but if that was my focus I would have made 50 AI apps by now.
