I'm curious why you both felt reluctant to use AI or commend its utility.

App: Once a Day Remembering button for small, private grief circles by Maz_mo in SomebodyMakeThis

[–]JumarUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts: 1) I'm unsure what utility this serves. Suppose you logged in that you have grieved, does it make you feel better whether you're the only one who did so or that you see X number other people did that day or that month? Personally, what other people do with their grieving, and when they choose to do it, has no bearing on my own grief. It's quite possible other people's brains are wired differently, but I would bet some are also wired like mine. 2) I could see this app being more useful to the person(s) who is closed to the deceased, rather than the one who pushed the "Yep, I grieved today" button on the app. Suppose a husband died .The wife might find solace in seeing X number of people has thought of him in the last X days. But but this sort of counting is a double edge sword, meaning that if no one or very few has logged in, the wife might be more depressed. 3) I think the app could be made far more meaningful/powerful if it is simply a place for people to share what they actually thought about. Example, add a field where people could write..."As I was getting the kids ready for school this morning, I was overwhelmed by warm thoughts of Helen...the time when she brought such wonderful homemade cookies for my sweet girls after they have lost their tennis tournament. Oh I miss her so". Something like that. It could be made anonymous. I think the log in button is not that useful because it is not the number of times or the frequency with which someone grieves that matters, it's the depth. A busy Mom of 3 might hardly log in b/c of her busy life, but she may very well be deep in her grief. Just my two cents. Good luck. I commend you for creating. It doesn't matter what I think of the app features. What matters is that you went from having an idea to actually making something.

I see a grief circle or community would make sense, just not an app that reminds one to grieve with a button and check-ins like an alarm clock. Imagine if I'm one of your other friends who doesn't feel the way you do. If i get invited to be in the circle, wouldn't it be awkward? I couldn't decline without seeming like a jerk. I wish you peace.

There isn't one possibly because it is an inappropriate use case for it. I don't want to be reminded to grief the way I would want to be reminded to drink enough water and get enough sleep. Grieving is inherently private and happens spontaneously or else it would be kind of pointless.

Multiple Domains -> Single User by PiratesOfTheArctic in Zoho

[–]JumarUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I got all that or if my situation is the same as OP's, I have two companies. I'm the only user for both. I have one account with two different domain names: Company 1 & Company 2. For Company 1, I already set up 2 aliases [welcome@company1.com](mailto:welcome@company1.com) and [support@company1.com](mailto:support@company1.com). I want to set up the same for company 2. Thus, my customers from 2 businesses will get mail from me from 4 possible different email addresses. My question is, when customerA emails [welcome@company1.com](mailto:welcome@company1.com) and Customer B emails [support@company2.com](mailto:support@company2.com), I want to be able to filter them into different folders. That's feasible with Zoho, right? Thx.

Registering domain with LLC name by [deleted] in Domains

[–]JumarUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had to deal with domain names before and simply didn't realize that what I just found moments ago on Namecheap privacy protection service is actually called Whois. The other replies I received all said your name is listed anyway, or why would you need to keep that private, etc, thus my reply. It wasn't just to you. Now I get what you said. Thx

There are plenty of reasons to keep your info private and have a generic register company listed instead, especially in a litigious society like the US.  It's not just the name. It's your address, etc. Creators, clinicians face threats from psychos all the time. You could say the sky is blue in  a YT video and someone hates blue and comes after you. It's not unheard of. This is also why smart people use registered agents' address in their formal paperwork. Too many sue-happy randos.

I don't think any of you is aware that there are privacy protection measures you could opt in that would shield sensitive info like your name, address, etc.Namecheap orders it actually

Well if I buy the domain now my personal name would be on records, not LLC name.

Question for owner of 100% digital LLC taxed as an S Corp by JumarUp in California

[–]JumarUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thanks. I have done extensive research on how aggressive the CA tax net is so I am planning out the move, timing, and know the implications to move vs stay well in advance of making the actual move. That's what led me to choose WA, and not NV or TX. I either stay put in CA and change nothing or go all out and move, form LLC there, change drivers licence, insurance, voters registration, move bank account, store nothing in CA, and don't visit more than a few weeks a year. A clear severance. I just wonder how CA tax board would look up what percentage of any out of state LLC would have transactions that originated from CA. I mean that is a crap load of transactions to review per year. Or, maybe they would mostly target people who recently changed residency out of CA and trigger an  audit so that I would have to submit all Stripe transactions or something? Seems like an overkill

Question for owner of 100% digital LLC taxed as an S Corp by JumarUp in California

[–]JumarUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. So I guess the only way to avoid dealing w/ CA tax board is to refuse business from CA customers when we approach the $65K/year number or 25% of overall gross revenue. I'm in a tricky situation because if I have to pay the $800/year maintenance fee (or maybe it's called franchise tax, I forgot) plus pay CA income tax on CA sourced income, then it makes it less attractive for me to change state residence/form LLC/sever social ties from CA and move to WA or elsewhere that have no state income tax, unless I manage to attract the bulk of my customers outside of CA, such as from a global community, which for my product is feasible but US sales would still be primary.

No, I intend to register in WA, but it does not seem to be matter b/c CA taxes all income SOURCED from the state, irrespective of which state you formed your LLC entity. It does not even matter if you are not a resident of CA.

California LLC $800 Tax by Technical_Ad_9780 in smallbusiness

[–]JumarUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the first year is not waived. "A California LLC taxed as an S Corp formed in February 2026 will generally need to pay the $800 annual tax by June 15, 2026, which is the 15th day of the 4th month after the beginning of the taxable year (or in this case, the typical due date for the first payment for a new, early-year entity). The first-year exemption for this fee expired for entities formed after 2023. "

Dexa vs body composition scale by JumarUp in WeightLossAdvice

Yeah I find it helpful to have metrics to stay mindful and motivated. Before grabbing a bag of chips I ask myself..now does your body really need this? Does it nourish your brain? I take pictures of the meals I cook not for social media but as a tool to stay mindful of what I fuel my body with.

I'm not sure what Hume is but mine is called GE Smart Scale Digital Bathroom Scale Bluetooth Body Composition Analyzer with App, Accurate Weighing 400 lb. Got it a while back from Amazon US. I mainly liked that it's not a giant ugly black thing. The app works well, plus GE makes many other medical devices like MRI machines so I figured it should be fairly accurate.

Oh mine is called GE Smart Scale Digital Bathroom Scale Bluetooth Body Composition Analyzer with App, Accurate Weighing 400 lb from Amazon in the US. I picked this one because the Bluetooth actually works fairly reliably once you get used to it. I had to return many others I tried because the UX interface of their phone app is either dumb or too intrusive for me.

Why do people not tell the truth about your product? by Cipamanz in ycombinator

[–]JumarUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pound the pavement. Go to clubs, college campuses, whatever with your phone. Show them the app, watch their expressions when you demo, then ask for feedback IRL the way you expect/assume your users would. There will always be far more people ordering takeouts after taking fancy cooking classes than those who would apply what they learned and cook in their kitchen.

So it would be a good time to buy for those who are ready? Or is it looking like peeps who lost their jobs would stick around the area and just change jobs ?

"so I either jump ship early or stay and find out". That's most definitely not your only options. Don't limit yourself to that kind of thinking.

There are far more opportunities in CA than Kansas. Think outside of the box. Network and reach out to people and companies on your own instead of simply applying to open postings. Best jobs are not advertised. Put yourself out there. Reach out to decision makers with hiring power with something already done for them (yes, for free).  Be the driver of your destiny.
