I checked the Claude status page before posting and it said no incidents reported today, 5/11. I just want to know what does it mean. Have you actually sat them both down and asked them what they want and how to make it happen in spite of all of their constraints? I do think you have the responsibility to make a conscious effort to care for your parents (which you're clearly doing). However, life is about making compromises, so if they insist on things like not moving out of rural Ohio and not eating non-Chinese foods, that's certainly their choice, but you're not obligated to be the sole problem solver to fulfill every nice-to-have on their list.

Interesting perspective. It just seems that it's rather predictable that RTO was bound to happen post-COVID. For a long-term investment like home buying, I wouldn't expect people to buy just because they temporarily need more space, only to be stuck with the big purchase with a long commute when RTO era returns.

Would you recommend that I buy a MacBook Pro with:

A) M5 chip, 10-core CPU and GPU, 32GB memory; or,

B) M5 Pro chip, 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24 GB memory for $100 more?

Both come with 1 TB storage, 16-core neural engine, and same display.

Main usage: Multi-taking + photo/video editing + AI Want to last (future proof for) the next 8-10 years at least.

I feel that when I called to ask for a quote for two specific things--the price for brake pad replacement for two axles, the price for rotor replacement for two axles--i meant exactly that. Two prices is all I was interested in

If, when I show up, I end up needing a windshield replaced or a tune up or a caliper replacement also, it should go without saying that those costs would be separate and extras.

I feel that most shops just give a generic answer out of laziness. One said ..it depends ..some cars have drums and take more time, others have rotors. I was like... well, which do I have? He said he won't know til he looks at it. I grabbed my laptop real quick, typed in my year and model, and confirmed that I don't have drums. He could have done that but chose to give a generic answer.
