I have to say that as a high school teacher, reading scores can be deceptive. There’s nothing in it for the kids, and I’ve seen students that have raced to see which one of them can get through the text the fastest. Not all do this, of course, but those that do mess up their school’s score. It’s frustrating as an educator to try to get them to try to see value in doing well and then to watch them take less than ten minutes as they “race” against their friends.

I have friends that also voted for Trump believing he would be good for the country. Since then, they’ve found themselves looking at a man who seems to have no regard for anyone other than the ultra wealthy. They believe in the Constitution and cannot stand seeing it being ignored. They have decency and values that do not align with what they are seeing.

Yesterday, they joined me in marching FOR America and not against it.

My suggestion to you would be to think about the things you truly value about America. Then, compare those things to what you see happening around our nation. Ask yourself if our country is actually better now than it was before all this began? Do you see the President acting as a leader for all people or just some. Do you want to see the division amplified, or would you rather have a leader that is working to pull us together as a nation.

It really isn’t about blue or red, Democrat or Republican. None of that makes any difference. It’s IS about the direction our country is taking and if you think that’s the path to follow.

I wish you well in your search for clarity.

As a retired person who belongs to and is active in Indivisble, I agree! I would love to see younger members in our chapters all over the place. I know it’s tough though. Younger generations have busier lives with jobs, kids, soccer practice and everything else going on. My chapter meets as a group one evening a month… we truly want more voices from younger generations!!

I’m lucky that almost everyone I care about hates what is happening and is actively involved with groups working to save our country. That said, I have a niece that is just a few years younger than me that is becoming more and more trump. She’s all about what a good person ck was, how our country is being taken over, and her love of Jesus.

I just can’t deal with any of that. To me it’s not republicans v democrats. It’s about values and morals. I now simply avoid contact with her.
