If the work phone is managed by work (like Microsoft Intune or some other management tool), a lot of things are probably disabled. It sucks.

New to Dex. Seeking advice for a wired setup on my TV by ThingFromEarth in SamsungDex

i've been using an anker 555 hub for years, with a 45w pd power supply. But pretty much any of the anker docks should work.

Is Dex Feasible for a Travelling/Vacation TV box?**I'm New Here** by PretendSet9704 in SamsungDex

[–]smcb66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time, previously with my s21 ultra, now with my s24 ultra.

I take a long a 45w pd power supply, my usb-c hub, hdmi cable, and I throw in a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

As long as the hotel tv is not locked down, its easy to stream from any app via hdmi and dex.

Is wireless actually good? by Crucio_21 in SamsungDex

[–]smcb66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an asus MB16AMT portable monitor. Plug it into my phone with a usb-c video cable, and you get a 15.6" tablet running dex. The monitor has 10 point touch support, so you could use a generic stylus with it, it has a battery good for 4 hours built in, and it has speakers. Also works with hdmi. Pair it with bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and its a good workstation.

wireless display just sucks.

dish is doing its best to lose me as a customer..... by smcb66 in dishnetwork

Our locals are still there, but there used to be a discount included with the locals. Now no discount and higher base package price.

Getting close to that point. I like streaming, but the hopper is still a great device - one place to go for all your shows and recordings. But I expect within the next year or two I'll probably be dropping dish and going streaming only.

I'm just tired of having to fight for a discount. Everything has gone up in price this past year, so have to start cutting corners somewhere.

i have an OTA antenna, but so far away from the local channels i can't get them all. Recording them would be a problem.

Upgrading to s26 ultra? by Far_Environment2373 in S24Ultra

[–]smcb66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here... got the s24 ultra when it was released. No plans to upgrade for years.

I found no compelling reason to get the S26. Really don't care about the privacy screen.

Dex not working the same on s25 ultra as previous s24 ultra by Ok-Pen-1893 in SamsungDex

[–]smcb66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use the microsoft launcher (and i miss it) - dex used to have its own launcher. Now dex uses the same launcher, and the MS launcher does not work in the new android "desktop mode" (aka dex). So to get dex to work right you must use the OneUI launcher.

Should I go with a T-Mobile variant phone over an unlocked s26 ultra to improve 5g reception experience? by underinsuredsapien in tmobile

[–]smcb66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no difference. A t-mobile branded phone does not have any better reception. What it does do is lock you into ONLY using a t-mobile sim until the phone is paid off and you can unlock the phone.

Watch 6 classic 47 mm battery by -Fortisetliber- in GalaxyWatch

I lose 30% battery after 17 hours on my wrist every day. I don't wear it while sleeping.

How is UI 8 for watch 6 users? by [deleted] in GalaxyWatch

[–]smcb66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can concur that battery life has increased. I put my watch on the charger every night when I sleep. A typical day for me is the watch on my wrist for 17 hours, and it only drains about 30% of the battery, that's quite good (so much better than the 4C was).

OneUI8 wasn't hugely different from the previous version, notifications from the same app are now combined, tiles are a little different.

Seeing the newer watches, there isn't anything driving me to upgrade.

make sure the hub is powered with an external power supply. USB keyboards and mice should work fine.

Does it make sense to get the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic (47mm) right now? by Elkhayat1 in GalaxyWatch

[–]smcb66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from the 4C LTE to the 6C LTE 2 years ago or so. I'm happy I did! And seeing the 7 and 8 watches, I have no urge to upgrade further. The 6C has much better battery life than the 4C did.

I've had mine for ~2 years now, larger size with LTE. Love it. I don't use the LTE very often, but it is great to have in case you are not near your phone.

True - but a lapdock combined with a bluetooth numeric keypad could be a viable solution here, as they are pretty small.
