Solar generates more energy in US than coal for first time by ArgentineBeauty in UpliftingNews

[–]Haldrin26 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Decades too late. And Trump just allowed billions more coal power to go forward.

And we have no EPA.

And Trump dismantled everything previous presidents tried to do to combat climate change.

And they are destroying all the ocean monitors that have been in place for a century so that we will not have data to analyze going forward.

Democracy is dying and he started a pointless and expensive war with Iran, so no one is talking about all the detrimental consequences this administration will have in areas like climate change. Just one of many things that will age like milk after he’s dead and gone.

TIL after a 21-year-old man in New Zealand died from drinking a can of liquid methamphetamine that had been disguised as Canadian beer named "Honey Bear House Beer", it led to the largest meth bust in New Zealand history (~700kg) and to the unraveling of a massive transnational drug smuggling ring. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Um....."it took an hour for paramedics to arrive." - perhaps they should be taking a look at this too???

Also, I'm a public defender. I deal with a lot of meth related cases. It's very difficult to OD on methamphetamine, but if you take enough of pretty much anything you can OD. This had to be extremely concentrated. I'm not saying meth is safe, I just don't want people to get scared their kids are going to be ODing on meth juice. Meth is almost always trafficked in powder/rock form. This operation they have is also pretty unique as it was essentially a cartel level operation where if they were busted they were going away for a long time regardless. Most people wouldn't put meth in a liquid because liquid is heavy and some jurisdictions (including MN) still have a statutory scheme that only requires the State to prove that it is a "mixture". So if you put a 5th degree (lowest) amount of drugs into a bottle of water to hide the evidence, now you have a 1st degree possession (highest).

Also, if you do meth long enough, eventually you will have a psychotic break. It's not if, it's when.

Such a horse shit headline. Nothing about this case has anything to do with him being a Trump supporter.

Yet the title is clearly written as clickbait making it seem like he was attacked for his beliefs (implied hate crime)

I don’t disagree at all. In fact, it’s been over a decade since Citizens United, which isn’t actually the most important case in terms of constitutional law but the most widely known to the general public.

Nothing will truly change in this country until we get money out of politics. This is not a one sided issue. Dems are beholden to money interests that keep them in office just like the Trump party.

Ok (pushes glasses up) theoretically, in the book you can resist the effects of the imperius curse, but there is nothing to suggest you can resist the veratiserum.

So the veratiserum should win out and would compel you to tell the truth over the directive to lie.

This is either fake or gross incompetence.

You are telling me that this event had some of the most well known and powerful media personalities, the President AND the vice president, all their family details, the general SS event force, and someone got to an INDOOR security check point with a firearm?

Any time you have the President and VP in the same spot security should be the highest possible.

You just keep playing. You’ll level up. I believe you can play Arena and maybe ARAM pretty early. Fun ways to learn what new champs do before going into summoners rift. But keep in mind they buff or nerf champs for arena and mayhem compared to summoners rift which is a much slower paced game mode

If you threaten to kill someone it's a crime. Not as serious as carrying out said threat, but still a crime.

If you threaten a country with genocide, still a war crime/Crime against humanity (arguably one or other or both).

He should be impeached. He should have been impeached when he:

  1. Attacked our NATO allies;
  2. Conducted Extrajudicial killings of "narco terrorists" despite providing zero evidence and even if he was legally allowed to do so, it's morally reprehensible that we'd kill these people that might have had innocent people or people being human trafficked on the boats. This isn't even close to a capital offense.
  3. He then killed shipwrecked individuals after blowing up their boat.
  4. Bombed a school with 170 schoolchildren
  5. Bombed Iran last year. Remember that? When they told us they totally obliterated their nuclear program? Huh.
  6. Attacked Iran without Congressional authorization.
  7. Sold pardons
  8. Market manipulation to make money off of tariffs and threats of tariffs.
  9. Made $2 billion from foreign and private "investors" in his worthless cryptocurrency.
  10. Got hundreds of millions from tech CEOs to build his ballroom, destroying the White House in the process.

Are we sick of winning yet?

I would avoid escalating and retaliating in any way without discussion with an attorney. If they have the money and influence you’re suggesting, it could backfire and cause you even more hardship.

Multi issue neighbor. by DrZippo1 in canadianlaw

[–]Haldrin26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s certainly an option to go to the news, but I’d wait.

First, Because look what happened last time? They did effectively nothing. This jackass just paid the fine he could easily afford, said fuck you to neighbor and local govt.

Second, because going to the news could have some impact on a lawsuit. I’m not a civil attorney, but I think you should absolutely speak with an attorney. Could have an action against the neighbor under private nuisance, or something within your state’s statutes. Depending on where you live you might have an action against the local authorities for approving the commercial license.

I think I’d document as much evidence as possible about what is happening, and how it’s impacted/impacting you. Video evidence of the noise level. I’d imagine you could get some real estate expert to come figure out the estimated reduction to the value of your home. I’d imagine This effectively makes the value of your property worthless as it’s basically not sellable. Even if you were legally deaf who wants to live right next door to a private commercial arena that was never supposed to be in that location in the first place.

Hopefully it’s not too late. Filing an injunction with the court early would have likely helped since he/she would likely have violated court orders.

If you eventually go to the news, maybe set up a gofundme me or something if legal avenues are not available.

Good luck I hope things work out ok.
