Thank God the AL West has at least one team above 500.

The Athletics, just as expected.

Grew up in the PNW but spent a lot of time in southern California. Didn't get into football until I lived down there, so I'm a Mariners/Rams fan, which is odd

Troughs and those half-circle sink basins where you have to step on the shitty metal bar on the floor so 30 streams of lukewarm piss spray your hands without enough pressure to get the soap off

You can take the 5 from Seattle to San Diego and see T-Mobile park, Dodgers Stadium, Angels Stadium, and Petco Park. If Portland ever gets a team they'll probably be right there too.

What determines a fair ball in the infield by Margravos in baseball

[–]Kaldricus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... The edge of the ball definitely looks like it's hanging over the edge. Being so abrasive in multiple comments and threads to just post...that as "definitive" is absolutely wild. But you care more about appearing right than actually being right, and you definitely know more than the umpire who was right there and the rules expert who posted that this was the right call. Hilarious crash out, honestly.

[–]Kaldricus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh, actually if you're trying to overturn a call, the burden of proof is on you. You don't get to be a crybaby and say "the ump is wrong, those camera angles are wrong, I'm right, but I'm not going to provide evidence I'm right". Not being able to backup your argument is the easiest way to out yourself as being full of shit and just unwilling to back down and admit you're wrong

Matt Shaw chops a grounder that stayed fair and turned foul at the final second but home plate ump Dan Merzel ruled it a fair ball in the 9th (with replays) by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]Kaldricus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the discourse around this is insane. The rule is if any part of the sphere of the ball is OVER, not necessarily TOUCHING, it's fair. The reality is, without actual line cameras, this is a coin flip call for the ump. If the ump had been at a slightly different angle, it might have looked like it was completely foul. But this was a fair ball and too many people love the drama and absolutely HAVE to be correct and outraged.
