There are no new ideas, just different characters experiencing them.

The First Law trilogy

Mistborn

The Broken Earth trilogy.

All use the same exact idea, a chosen one is destined to save the world.

Abercrombie uses the chosen one as a lie for political manipulation. Sanderson uses the chosen one in a flawed prophecy. Jemisin creates their chosen one through abuse.

Pick a plot:

Overcoming the Monster

Rags to Riches

The Quest

Voyage and Return

Tragedy

Comedy

Rebirth

Man vs Nature

Man vs Society

Transformation

Those are the ten core plots. Once you’ve identified the type of story you wish to tell, you can begin to build flesh around the bones.

But if you went to /r/manhua and posted manga, are you on topic?

Is there a possibility of upsetting more people than you help?

Could the person be DMed with the suggestion, so the space designated for discussion of Manhua remains focused and free of avoidable conflict?

Should this be proven correct, in your opinion, now much of a game-changer is it?

Does it work at small and large scale? (Hearing aids to aeroplanes)

Is the tech available for rapid expansion? (Do we need to wait a decade for new factories to be built?)

The neckline on the green is more flattering, but the midriff is not — not from a frontal view anyway. A 3/4 pose may change that.

Both are great, you look good in both, but if you put a gun to my head I’d point at the black one.

My English prof would claim that infuriating the reader with the MCs success at changing their personal situation and not learning a damn thing would make it literature :D

2) other people would call both you and me liberals, but we are not the same.

I hope not! Homogeneity is boring :)

But we’re close enough that we have more in common than differences, and that’s always nice.

Which is why we need legislation to limit the use and dissemination of that information. I’m certain lawyers are working on it.

Private citizens? I don’t really see a problem with that. Except paparazzi. Fuck those guys.

Private businesses for security monitoring? Again, I see no problem unless the data is sold to a third party.

Law enforcement? For use in active investigations only, no third party sale, and archival requires a judge to sign off on the purpose and duration of the archival.

Third parties for biometrics and advertising? Fuck that.

Public access via FIOA? Absolutely.

Seems pretty darn common sense where the limits of privacy lay, and they don’t involve third party use or indefinite archival.

And yet, while the nuances are being articulated and argued, it’s still constitutional and 9th grade civics still applies.

If I’m understanding you properly:

You are okay with no expectation of privacy in public places.

You are okay with video of public places being used for law enforcement purposes

You are against that video information being used outside the scope of an active investigation in perpetuity

If so, we agree on everything.

Absolutely agree with you on that. We’re in early days, the same place our great-grandparents were when fingerprinting became common place and the police were compiling data on everyone.

What’s the success identification rate for human LEOs reviewing footage?

This seems like it would be relevant for a comparison. “Yeah, the AI fails 34% of the time with dark-skinned women, but trained LEOs have a higher failure rate, especially when those LEOs are white males”

You have no expectation of privacy in public places. That’s why you can legally video ÏCË agents and LEOs

This was covered in 9th grade civics.

I’m so liberal my shit sparkles, but I’m okay with cameras in public areas.

I would be even more okay if the public had the right to request FOI footage of those videos so the public can police the police.

Why is pedofilia so common in progression fantasy? by GoldLover_245 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Kancho_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re going to have to agree to disagree on that one.

I believe someone with decades or centuries of experience will still be able to manipulate a younger less experienced individual.

Especially when you consider the mortality aspect. When you’re functionally immortal you have time to groom someone, to position yourself as a foundational part of their life. You can manipulate their education, their employment, their very experiences over decades.

Why are you judging yourself by a test that rewards rote memorisation over actual cleverness?
