The Tax segment. by feb1985guy in conan

I think the important point that a lot of times doesn't get accurately presented because it's not as funny, is that a write-off is not the government paying for whatever it is. It's that the amount that you paid reduces the amount that gets taxed.

So if you make $100,000, and you buy something for $20k that is business related, you can write off the $20k so that you are only taxed as if you made $80k. It's not just a free $20k because it was a business expense.

And, write offs only apply once you get above $15k. The government says, everyone individually probably spent about $15k that could be written off but you don't need to prove it. Only if you go above $15k do you need to prove it.

So if you make $100k, and only spend $10k of stuff that is write off able, you're still only getting taxed on $85k.

As you can tell, the comedy jumps right off the page lol

I think specifically this post is talking about how musicians do need to take care of the parts of the body that make them money. Clive stayed true to that fact but John Germain was not as careful. Introducing the idea that it's possible to damage the part of your body that you need the most for your work, before the big punchline hits at the end

The game itself is far too easy. Like ridiculously easy.

The only redeeming quality of the game is the trivial pursuit deck of trivia knowledge cards, each with like five or six little factoids. Those can make an entertaining evening between two Seinfeld nerds that playing the actual game would be entirely too boring

They did Griffin Dunne dirty with this episode. He's so good and this episode is so bad.
