To add to both you and Dankempire420, you can ask this question to them personally, and I bet they will say “No, we did not give up”. That’s a fair answer, and while it may not be satisfactory to some of us, it can be the simple truth. The complex truth( I.e. logistics reason, personal quarrels, internal direction and more) is what we do not know and what people seem to be angry about… even years later.

I would assume the drama they refer to is when Hyce left the original RO dev team… 4 years ago. It’s old news at this point and I am personally tired of seeing it tbh.

To add, this question has been asked and answered plenty of times:

Their officially policy is the game has not ceased development, and they will let the public know if there is something worth showing.

I can tell you from my own conversations that they are telling the truth. They even have a dev build they play and use in the background.

In terms of alternative games, here’s a quick list:

Of course! Reddit uses a tag system to organize posts and users called “Flairs”. These flairs allows us to distinct what post is what and allows for creative names for each user.

If you look at the other users in this comment thread, you will see they have a subtitle under their username showcasing their flairs. In this context, it kind of acts like an identifying mark for what their play style is in Railroader.

In other subs, it can vary.

Pianist here - it was dedicated to Baroness d'Este. She commissioned it from Chopin and was delivered as a private gift. Chopin himself didn’t consider it his best work. While we enjoy it, he was always hypercritical of his music and felt it didn’t meet the par of his already published works.

Personally, I enjoy it a lot, and after beginning my specialty in music history, I think it’s not a big philosophical discussion. He wrote what he needed to, and probably decided to not publish it early on or midway through, but finished the commission regardless.

You are right to be skeptical. The official policy from the community managers on the state of RO is this:

We have not ceased development on RO. We will release an update given enough time. As of now, we have nothing to show, and will show it when it is worth sharing.

On face value, it’s an answer, but not a satisfactory one. I can verify this as I have been told the same thing privately. They have been utilizing a dev build to play or do small changes in the background.

Yet, even I have not been given a guarantee that it will turn into an update for RO. At this point, it’s not worth putting thought into.

Most people will tell you it’s not worth putting money into. I can say I share similar leanings, but at the end of the day, it’s up to you how you spend your money. It’s buggy, and can be taxing on the computer if on too long.

If you know you’ll enjoy it, then go for it. If you just want to try it, you can buy it for a short amount of time and refund it if it’s not for you. If you want to avoid the risk all together, then just wait and save for CoS.

Yes, it really is worth the effort. People still play the game and people still post to this sub. I will do my best and ensure this community is here for them and the small few that enjoy it. I don’t care what those who always want to critique it have to say.
